I just got back from 164 miles. It was 53 F here today and not a cloud in the sky. :biggrinn:

Looks like a lot of fun. And I torally agree, it’s all a quesrion of the right equipment.
Changed the bike against a paraglider when bbeing a student and upgraded to ppg some years later. Not flying as oftennthough as I was biking back then.
Enjoy!

I can’t tell it is on there – even on the interstate. Retirement is excellent. 😉

Just hit 53 F today. A relative heat wave from a few weeks ago. (see I am still on topic) 😛

Maybe a front shot is better. lol This is what a ton of retirees do. I see a lot on motorcycles…. Amazingly, around me the Harleys are disappearing and are being replaced with the more functional adventure bikes (although that other guy is on a sport bike). Everybody now HAD a Harley.

Nice bike, the trunk seems huge! Holds two helmets, my guess, does it mess with your balance? Glad to see your enjoying retirement SECoda.

That is just about having the right gear. Above 40 F is really warm on a motorcycle when dressed properly and I really don’t like getting cold. I was actually way overdressed yesterday because it was in the low 40s when I started. I pull stuff off and put it in back as it warms up. I only did about a two hour ride of varying speed in the boondocks.

Now 0 F on a snowmobile is a bit of a challenge. Then the electric heated gear is needed. The V-Strom has an electric grip/gear circuit at the front.

Without a full or modular neck sealing helmet and a balaclava it would not be as fun. My Schuberth helmet (German) is good down to 25 F yet and good up to 85 F (before it gets too hot). Even the windshield seals and it has a pin lock anti-fog shield. I guess that is why they are over $800. :suprisedn:

Arctic motorcycle boots and gloves are required since the toes and fingers get cold first. Below 35 F I would use heated gloves and boots but I ride above 40 F. Our average January high is in the low 40s.

My armored motorcycle jacket and pants have two liners that make them four season. I put long johns under them when it is cold and a sweatshirt. You really don’t feel any cold if properly dressed. That would kill the joy. 45-50 F is actually rather balmy. 😛

When I think about it I guess I have about $2k in the helmet and outfit gear. That is why cold isn’t an option. I also have a helmet communicator hooked to my Garmin Zumo gps and cell phone and XM/Sirius radio. lol Even a radar detector below that beak although I don’t speed as a rule on a motorcycle and see little traffic where I ride. In the picture above I was there (lookout) for about 20 minutes and no other vehicles came by. Everyone was working I guess. LOL

It’s 51 F at the moment but we had a touch of rain. :sadn:

I installed some mirror extenders today. $18 from Hong Kong. They want $38 in the US for the very same ones. :suprisedn:

Looks nice Coda, a little to cold for me though.

I rode about 50 miles on the V-Strom today. It was 50 F and beautiful out. No snow in southern Missouri. It is supposed to be nice all week.

I would like to ride the Alps from France. They rent V-Stroms there.

Good to hear.
Drive carefully, then and stay safe.

Piece of cake. We’re used to it snowing around here. It’s the driving that gives us trouble.
