Q:

Which pump?

I need to order a pump for the 25 Condor that Tony is building for me.
Which one is best? Hill, FX, or The Airforce? Who sells Hill pumps in the US?

Thanks, Bruce

if you call around you should be able to pick up a 106cf 4350 luxfer for about 275…airhog has a cheap fillkit for a 100(when i got mine at least) then theres the filling problem

and that can be a major hassle….alot of firestations wont do it as this country is all about liability and lawsuits…

i only got one place to get it filled and they charge 16 bucks for my big tank….but once filled it will top off most airguns about 50 times

also got a 130cf 3500 psi…and it actually has quite a bit of fills in it…ince its pressure dops below 200 bar i fill as much as i can with it and the top off with the luxfer tank….that way i have been filling my guns for the last 4 months without getting the scuba tanks refilled

i did pump for 7-8 years before i got a scuba tank…..i used an FX pump without any problems….you just cant let the pump run hot then it should be fine for a long time….but it can be a pain in the ass, if you need more than 50-100 pumps and have to let it sit for 15-20 minutes to cool down before you can continue…a talon tank takes about 450 pumps to fill…the first 100 before it gets too warm…20 min coold down…then 50 pumps before its too warm etc….it can take a while to get the tank filled without putting alot of stress on the pump then a scuba tank is real nice to have 2 minutes of filling and your all set

but filling from empty sucks out a big chunk of air from scuba tanks also

Due to the high cost of a Hills pump is why i asked about dive shops and paintball centers. For the cost of a hill a guy could have a nice tank setup. I paid $150 or so for my 3000psi ali, another $50 for the adapter, so $200 for my fill station. Looking back i wish i’d have got at least 3200psi rated tank. I understand if there is no way to fill a tank in ones area. But for me i’d not want to be pumping for every fill. Topoffs in the field are one thing but to rely on a pump for all fills would take some of the fun out for me. Nothing like filling from a tank, 1000psi top off in 20 seconds.

JPEG, don’t go with a cheap pump either, many guys have and regret it. Once they reach the warranty they tend to start leaking and no refill kits are available. HILLS are rebuildable and durable, they are the best in the industry right now. As much as i believe that i’d also say don’t go with a 3000psi tank either go at least 3200psi if you can. 3000psi will give to 3-4 topoffs and tehn its 2900fills and down. Which works, but the little extra money for 3200psi wouldbe worth it in my experience.

Hey Shadoh,

For that price, I am pretty sure you will get the moisture trap.

Good Luck

$305 😯

Dang I’m glad I got the package deal I got when I got it! Condor w/ only about 50 shots thru it, Straight Shooters Pellet sampler, and Hill Pump w/drypack and fill adapter: $600 😀

Thanks Tony, I didnt even know that guy was over in Scottsdale. I will have to check out his shop next time Im over that way.

305 for a Hill? Looking at his pics its not even the one with the killer moisture trap on it. I paid (I think) 275 for the BSA version and its way beefier than the pic thats shown on the Top Gun site. I bought mine at Airguns of Arizona and they usually have them in stock.

And safety equipment (fire) and welding supplies…..

In Houston, I would think it shouldn’t be a problem. SOME dive shops can fill to 4500psi. If not, try paint ball equipment stores.

I would go with a carbon fiber tank if I could figure out somewhere to get it filled. I have been asking around hoping to find a fireman who could get me inside the HFD. No luck so far.

It will go even higher as the dollar continues to slide.

Thanks George Bush, good job.

Yea,

He is a real piece of work. Great guy.

$305.00,….WOW!

Couple hundred more and you can get a nice carbon fiber or a 106 Luxfer…

Thanks Tony, I called and talked to Boras. He is quite a character!

He is waiting on a shipment from Hill. “you never know about those Limeys, they are always late” What a hoot!

$305.00 when they come in.

Canfield’s has none left. Will have to reorder. Likely price increase.

Call Boris at Top Gun..
He’s a great guy…..

Mac 1 does not even carry them now. I called and talked to Tim.
I have a divers C card so If I come on a good deal on a tank that is an option. Still looking for a pump.

Get the pump before the tank. Pumps don’t run out of air, don’t require any money to use once you have it, are more portable, and open for business 24/7.

Plus you can get the tank later, and top off the fill using the pump when the tank is running low.
