Q:

What’s your favorite scope?

Been looking at scopes recently and thought I would ask you folks what’s your favorite scope and and why?? Any thoughts welcome in reference to talon/condor 😉

BTW Have you noticed there seems to be no objective measures of scopes re quality measures, figures, data etc??

Tasco 4×15 airgun special. Excellent clarity and the built in rings are nice. No need to fuss with an adjustable objective or any of those other fancy shmancy things. Just point and shoot…. 😆
^^^Note sarcasm…..

Budget scopes….Leapers, good optics but heavy…

Little bit more…..Banner series.

Best overall…..Legend 5x15x40 Close runner up is the Trophy series… 4x12x40 or 6x18x50(40?)

Best if you can find them….. 44Mag 6.5x20x50 as noted, larger mil dots, but I’ve not found this to be a problem….

Best low light….. Nikko Nighteater series….

Best for long range precision…. Muelller Eraticator 8x25x50

……As for the Elites… I’ve not dropped that kind of cash on one so I cannot comment. Ditto on Leupold.

I really like my 30mm tube MilDot Illuminated side mounted objective focusing Barska Tactical c/w with sunshade for 170.00.

Heavy as hell but built like a tank has had a couple of HARD hits:

I love my Bushnell Elite 4200. I’m really thinking about trying the MTC Viper on my Condor when it comes, we will see.

Thanks guys ❗ It’s a subject re scopes, where there is little objective measure with respect to information. Perhaps someone has seen data comparing but I have not found good comparative data. I’ve been looking at everything with respect to brands.

It seems Leupold is the brand with the best all around line and in particular unmatched services.
Like the Bushnell line as Tony mentions the upper end is popular with upper end shooting and folks have good things to say regarding parts of their line such as Rob has mentioned among others. Had a chance to review some of the models recently and They looked very good to me.
Saw the mention of the 44 Mag and as mentioned in the post not available these days,, another good choice.
Researched the Nighteaters as well. Everyone says they are bright but don’t know about the mechanics zero hold, tracking etc. Quite popular in Europe where one can hunt in the dark. I really like the side wheel feature. There is a new 1″ model out. Course I was reading many 30 mm tube have 1″ optics inside anyway.
😆
Have looked at some Tasco but not the small/lower variable one Tony mentions. At least I haven”t seen that one at any local dealers. That IS a very popular scope for many folks and very reasonable.
I’m looking to go up market a bit with good optics but in particular real reliable mechanics, good adjustment tracking and the like.

I appreciate your input , Thank you ❗ More welcome.

Leapers for general Ag useage, alot of scope for the money with adjustable objective on most, mil-dot, and IR, it does what i need it to do. The price of most is very reasonable. If i had it to do over again i’d get one with the AO on the side VS up front on the lense. They also come with flip up covers and a sunshade. I have the 4-16x50AOMDL got no complaints.

Bushnell 3200 Elite. the 4200
is better, but spendier.

CW

Simmons 44 Mag 6.5-20×44 if you can find one. Too bad Simmons discontinued it. Only complaint is the really large mil dots.

Dave

Tasco Varmint 2.5-10 for those on a budget.

Out of what I have seen through it would have to be my Nikko-Sterling 10-50×60 as it has super clear optics. Anyone that has used one will attest to how clear and bright the scope is.

Luepold. American made, clear, great gaurantee, accurate. A scope for most uses….except springers…but I might be wrong there. AKULA

For overall clarity may favorite is the Bushnell Elite 4200.
This is their 8×32 Duplex
The 6×24 mil dot is best for airguns.
Also look at the 3200 Elite 7×21 mildot.

The scope I now use the most of is the MTC Viper. Wasn’t crazy about it when I got it but now wouldn’t part with it. Side focus, IR, and the best reticle IMO out there.
