Q:

What "Hammer"

Okay guys, don’t hurt your necks when you start shaking your heads at my display of ignorance.

What is the hammer? Where is it? It obviously has something to do with the firing of the pellet. I thought air pressure fired the pellet. Can’t figure out where the hammer would come in, and why “hammer slap” comes in.

Old saying: “It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak up and remove all doubt.” Guess I’m just removing all doubt! 😀

Thanks!

I dont know exact measurements, but the whole firing assembly consists of:
The power wheel adjuster – spring appx 3-4″ long – striker – hammer – breech plug- tophat/valvestem – valve.

When you push the breech plug forward, the hammer is held in place by the sear. When you fire, the hammer “slaps” the breech plug which in turn depresses the tophat, opening the valve.

Sorry blue jay, I dont know how I missed your reply. ❓

the hammer is in front of the breech. as you cock and slide the breach back you will se a void, this is were the hammer travels. the slap is the hammer striking the breech which pushes the tophat in to the tank.
