Q:

Tuning a springer?

Anyone know how to tune a springer? I have an RWS Model 350 Magnum (.177 😥 ) and I didn’t know if these things could be tuned…
A sound moderator sure doesn’t do much good on it, as most of the noise ( I guess) is from the ‘whammmm’ of the spring 😥

love the moderator…looks like carbon fiber!

Yeah – old school, but it works.

Having too much fun with this now:

Still get a “kick” from the 350 every now and then!

I like the idea of using a scissor jack !

I started by reading up, then experimenting and making my own compressor. It might seem a little daunting at first, but it’s pretty straight forward.

The link gives you the step by step basics:

Cheers.

Freefly 103,
I checked out those web sites, but I didn’t see any diagrams and instructions how to take it apart, and where on what pieces need to be ‘polished’, or how to use this kewl spring compressor you made.
Thanks

The Diana 350 Magnum is a beast with a hell of a kick because the spring is so long relative to its cousins eg the Model 48, 52 or 54. But it’s relatively easy to work on like most Diana guns.

The basic tune I did to mine involved stripping it down, deburring rough edges on the piston and chamber, applying moly grease to the piston, heavy tar to the spring and replacing the seal.

Hope you find this helpful!

Would any one be willing to post a pic of there home made spring compressor.had some thoughts would like to see one that works. got a big dent in the ceiling dont want one in my head 😡

TX is easy to tear down… hard to find a spring and guide for it though, but I’ve seen them listed on Maccari’s site from time to time.

Barring that, just a general debur and proper lube of the internals. Bit of moly on pivot points, tar on the spring, moly on the seal, clear tar on the OD of the compression chamber… all very sparingly.

What did you have to do to the TX200 and how did it turn out ?

What do you want to know?

Of my own guns, I’ve tuned the following…

R9
TX200
HW97
HW77
B3
QB57
Anchutz 335
RWS54
RWS34
BSA Meteor
R7
B20
B26
and a couple others I cant think of now…

Have tuned an R11 and a couple RWS 48’s for other folks.

Ask away………… I’ve also written several tune guides for various guns, but not a 350.

Kewl! Thanks!

I have done many years ago.

It usually entails making a spring compressor and taking the gun apart. Then you’ll typically want to make a spring guide the is more snug and deburr and polish the entire mechanism. New seals and lubes. The best place for lubes is

You might want to pick up new spring for it also.

Click on the yellowforum link above and you will find many more people familiar with your gun.
