Q:

Tophat clearance on my new Condor valve

Ok, the cold yesterday made it impossible to use a rubber shim. The colder it got the less the shim would smash, so velocities dropped dramatically when it got cold outside. This explains my day-to-day variations in my shot strings.

So I decided to go ahead and adjust the tophat, and guess what? I can adjust the tophat all the way down to the brass. Airforce must have threaded my stem further than most.

My calipers do not extend far enough to get the jaws between the tophat and the brass. I just stuck a .065″ washer in there and set the gap with that.
I eventually got it set and fired a test shot out my back door. Scared the hell out of me and my dogs, I forgot I still had the PW set to 13. Heh-heh.

Just a testimonial on how a well-working shroud can keep peace in the family. My dogs usually dont even know Im shooting, but this shot rang some ears.

Set to 10 and got below the sound barrier, but it was dark so I dont have a clue how its going to shoot yet.

Will finish this next step in Condor tuning this Saturday.
