Top hat question. Will adjusting this help anything?
Below is from a previous post I made with my curve for reference. Now on to what I want to ask help with.
Using the below shots, I am shooting my .22 cal SS w/12″ barrel and Kodiak heavies with the power wheel set on 10. I just bought a set of feeler guages and checked the top hat setting which is at 0.082
I am wandering if someone can tell me if adjusting the top hat any will allow me to dial the power wheel down to say the 4 or 5 range and still give me the rough 750 fps velocity but hopefully quieten the gun down some?
Right now with all settings where they are, if I power wheel down to 4-5 range, the sound is greatly quieter, but my fps falls to the 500’ish range.

Shot more pellets than I expected over the chrony at the different settings and when I felt I was happy with what I was seeing with the .072 setting, I was down to only 18 Kodiaks. The avg for those 18 shots on a tank pressurized @ 2800 psi fps was 767.8 and looked like I had a good curve going. Power wheel was set to 8 for all this.
For a SS that is good for kodiaks in .22
