Q:

The quest for lower power….

Had posted elsewhere about my TalonSS. I wanted to change it up a bit and got a 12 inch .177 barrel for it and now have traded that for an 18 inch .177 barrel.

The gun was tuned by Tony when it was a .22 and was awesome. Not being able to leave it the hell alone, I changed it up and wanted to get a lot of shots at a lower velocity.

Micrometer tank was too low and I didnt want to mess with CO2.

Best I got with some level of consistency was around 40 shots at 15fpe.

Ordered a Blodnob valve for it and will give it a go with that valve and the 18 inch pipe and see what she’ll do. Will post results once I get her up and running.

Blodnob is the username of an english guy that makes VERY nice custom valves.

I’ve seen one in person (a HUGE Talon big bore valve) and the quality is outstanding.

Hi guys… I’m new to this particular forum but have considerable other airgun experience. Mainly Drozd and Crosman 22xx’s. I’ve had a TalonSS in .22 for about 6 months now and love it. I have a .25 Condor that Tony just finished up coming this week. Please forgive my ignorance, but what the heck is a Blodnob? ❓

Wish I could say I did it the work on it, but I didnt.

I’ve got a chrony string somewhere. Dennis worked on it for me. Thing is a beast. I dont know what he did to it, but the last time he came back on the TOG..not this current time… he offered to work on it for me.

I’ll see if I can dig up the last string I did on it.

30 shots at 68fpe in .22? How’d you manage that? Do you have a shot string at all?

Didnt really think of going that way with it…. but I have heard that .25 is more efficient than .22. I’m hoping to do good things with my 25 Condor. Right now in .22, it’s getting roughly 30-35 shots averaging 68fpe. Should see a nice gain in .25.

I’m thinking my ‘lots of shots’ fix might be cured if and when I ever get delivery of my Caiman Big Boy.

Rob: if you are looking for a bunch of shots and low power .25 might be a left-field choice, but there are some very light (relatively) .25 pellets out there and the caliber is more air-efficient than .177 or .22.

Tron,

As long as you are wearing corn rows considered it ignored! 😆 Bro!

I like my dancing fat guy…..just like me! 😯

Tef….

I figure the Blodnob valve will give me versatility later down the road when I change up the gun again. …of course, I can always use it in my .25 thats coming from Tony…

Either way, should be a nice addition! 8)

Rob: just an idea, but maybe a UK spec Valve would solve the issues. They are limited to 12fpe in the UK and when I had mine I had a bunch of shots with very nice shot-to-shot consistency. However, if you’re getting a valve from Blodnob then please ignore this post as it won’t matter. 😆

That will be a killer .177 with a Blodnob valve that is like dropping a jet engine into a vw beetle…

😆
