Q:

? tank source

Source needed.

Keep in mind I know about Wevo tanks.

Where can I get a smaller HPA 3,000 psi tank in the 30 cubic inch volume range?

Just a tank, no valve, regulator, etc.

I can find 45ci, 50ci, etc.

Help appreciated.

justforfun; I was rudely kidnapped by the Army after 25 active duty years as a Navy pilot. I ended up in Babil Province (Babylon) as the military commander for the regional embassy office (ours). I was in Iraq from the end of April 2006 through April of 2007. I’m back with the Navy now.

As far as AF parting out a tank without a valve, this is a new policy. In the past AF would not sell individual parts. I’m glad they are coming around and supporting their customers. I’m not interested in a refund. I’m just glad I got the Condor up and running again. I had a hell of a time getting it out of Iraq. AKULA

AKULA that is so sad.

Contact K. Brown at kathybrown@airforceairguns.com

If they support our service men, they should refund everything you paid.

JMO.

What outfit were you with and when was your deployment date?

Roy S.

I left Iraq without my tank. It was the only piece of the Condor that didn’t make it out. I ordered a tank through Air Hog….Just the tank. It cost me $150.00. I asked what the tank and regulator cost after the tank arrived. I was told $175.00 for the set up with both the tank and valve.

I told these fine folks to send me the valve in another shipment as I had no idea that the majority of the cost of the tank and valve….was the tank. I was able to set up the Condor again, but I’ve an extra valve kicking around.

I did sent off the butt plate that arrived to a member of this site but the cost of the tank against the valve is usery. AKULA

Just rec’d. a response from Airforce, via Kathy Brown.

They do sell bare tanks, item # 10123, they want $90.00 ea.

Just for reference.

Another update, I have a call into Luxfer, they seem to be more supporty.

I’ll update as info. is available.

I called Catalina and spoke with them about a group purchase.

Here is what I found out.

Min. purchase, 1,000 units, they consider the size we would be interested in as a special order item. It’ because of the thread size needed, most bottles that size have a 5/8″ thread and we need 3/4″.

Price per unit approx. $25.00.

Since I do not need or want 1,000 of anything, that’s a dead end.

Just some info. to add to the list. 🙂

quote MM123522:

I once called Catalina cylinders and gave them the numbers off of a tallon tank. They pointed me bach to Airforce. I think if we bought 50 tanks they would sell to us?????? I’ll bet the Wholesale price would be under $75 (maybe a lot less). Maybe we try to pool a bunch of us together and buy wholesale????

Mark

You telling me, I’ll give you $76.00 for it right now. 😀

Truthfully, if it needs a new home just let me know. We’re in the process of cleaning out the house, we’re retired and looking to downsize. But I’m sure I could find space for that tool.

Some guys have all the luck.

That radius dresser cost me $75 at the flea market, about 5 years back. Only used it a few times. What a find @ $75!!!!

Just for fun:

Wow ! Good Idea! Never crossed my mind to look for a router bit!

Mark

Thanks MM123522

I went ahead and purchased a 1.25″ ball nosed carbide router bit for $20.00.

I’d do what you did, if I had a radius dresser in my basement. 😀

Roy S.

I need one of those tanks , filled with nitrous oxide (laughing gas) , So I can have a LOT OF FUN shooting my gun.

Just for fun — check out my post on the radius cutter, I know you and Marc were talking about how to cut a 1.25 radius.

Maybe this is what you’re looking for?

Two 3 litre, 232 bar, DIN cylinders inside an Inspiration Diving Rebreather closed circuit breathing set.

WOW, 232 bar! that would be great!

The little bottles look like they would work great!

I won 2 3000 psi egress tanks off ebay, They have cga346 threads on them, I think they hold just under 12 CF at 3000 psi, I was thinking of making an adaptor to go from the cga347 to the cga347 (scotts air pack) then trying to fill it to 3200 psi to see if I can fill my talon tanks to 2800psi twice. Last weekend I walked with a 44 cf 4500 CF tank in a back pack. It worked but a smaller spare tank would be nice.

I think the seller has a few more for $38 each (that is what I paid) and they were new in the box.

So I don’t know how it will work yet, I don’t think I will get the time to play them until next year.

I would love an extra tank or two. I think the biggest thing holding back a bulk order like that would be folks would still need a valve for them.

What I really want and Im still thinking on how to do it is an air line running from my garage to MMs house.

Justforfun; Oops! I reread your inquiry. I read 30 cubic feet and you’re looking for 30 cubic inches.

With this in mind, look into the arena of SCUBA and military aircrew emergency excape devices. In the world or SCUBA there are pony bottles (a bit too large for your needs) and what are called Spare Air devices. In the military world these are called HEEDs for Helicopter emergency escape devices. Any of these can be filled to 3,000 psi. From experience these little tanks might be just what you’re looking for.

eBay has lots of this stuff up for sale. AKULA
