Talon SS with 24" barrel querstion
Just wondering. What FPE can I expect to get from my Talon SS with 24″ barrel once I get it back from Tony266? It’s getting a full tune, brass hammer, o’ring mod, etc. I’ll be shooting .22 kodiaks.

I got 45 fpe with a 24″ barrel and a Talon tank and also get the same with a 12″ barrel and a Condor tank.
15 fps per inch isnt optimistic at all.
I already have an AH Shroud waiting on the SS when it returns. 😀
Lets see here. Gaylord’s review on pyramydair says an average of 845fps with crossman premiers. Now, if you add 15ish(I think)fps per inch, you get 1025fps. Calculate the energy out of that, 33fpe.
Same thing with shark hollow points (20.5g) Gaylord says stock SS shoots them at 749 on average. Again, 15ish fps per inch, 929 for a 24″ barrel. That adds up to be 39fpe.
So, a kodiak, at 21g, will be about 40fpe.
Someone needs to check my numbers. 15fps per inch is a little on the optimistic side. It is probably a hair lower. But that should give you a general idea. Also, the tophats and such can be tuned differently, to give you a different range of power and shot count.
24″ barrel gives you a pretty darn good jump in power. But, be prepared for noise. It is extremely loud compared to the SS. If you are shooting in a neighborhood, I suggest investing in a shroud. If you are looking for a simple increase in power, longer barrel is about the easiest way to go.
I have mine set at 40 ftlbs with eunjins and around 36 or 37 with kodiaks…

I got 45fpe while measuring with lama’s chrony. Thats with eun jins. You can push 55fpe if you modify your valve. Thats not hard to do at all.
