Q:

Talon SS max power and quiet

Is there a way to get the Talon SS .22 w/mods to shoot 850fps on air and still be quiet ? How about 750fps on Co2 ? Just planning for when the Fed-Ex truck shows up !!!!

Nick….

Re the “850fps and quiet” I think what you will find with the SS is that without mods you’re going to be looking at around 22-24fpe in .22. This based on the two that I’ve owned.

You’ll quickly learn to find a reasonable velocity that gives you a decent number of shots without wasting air. Part of the ‘quiet’ factor is achieving a balance with your gun where it is not just wasting air on each shot. In a stock SS, I’ve found that cranking the power wheel all the way up yields little increase in velocity, but greatly increases air usage. I’d suggest just starting out at around L4 on the power wheel and shooting a string over the chrony and see what it does for you. Move it up to L6 and do the same. See if your numbers are more consistent and see the velocity increase, if any. In stock configuration, I’d say use the lowest power wheel setting you can achieve a good consistent string.

Now… modding your gun… thats a whole ‘nother story. If you feel froggy, look around the site and ask questions to see what others are doing and decide for yourself if this is something you think you can do. If not, there are those here such as Blodnob who sells aftermarket valves that are doing amazing things, and there are those such as Anthony266 who tunes our guns for max performance, should you decide to go either of those routes.

Right on about the crow drop! On this very tree here only up on the very tip of the tree (approximately 25 to 30 yards up),I shot a crow like the one in this photo. Straight on in the brest with a RWS .25 Cal Springer.
he went to jump up and fly but I “pulled the trigger” 😮
And whap,… he came spinning all the way down like an airplane prop and hit the neighbors roof and the angle of the roof catapulted Mr. Jeckle into the other yard. And of course there were feathers raining down for the next 30 seconds. Heckle and all his cousins circled around with absolute outrage.*(&*%&( OOPs it was an accident…. NOT 👿
God that felt great! 😈

See,…I do too pull the trigger” 8)

“Think I won’t?

Will try that when Talon gets here. Just to let you know I FINALLY got one of those crows yesterday. Up in tree about 35 yards offhand. Thack.. plop into the heavily sticker bush area next to the house. Didnt see any movement so I didnt chase it but it was a pretty much straight fall out of the tree. The other ones were VERY pissed off about the whole thing !!

Ohhh I love the death drop….that means dead
most the times anyways.

Here’s another way with pictures… (:P @ walk on king)

1″ OD Washers with .25″ hole, 1″ OD O-Rings and springs cut down a bit. You will probably have to cut the springs unles you can find lengths that work. Once cut to size, use a blow torch to flatten the ends by holding it flat with pliers and then heating with blow torth, keep in position using pliers until it cools and it will stay put when you release, then grind them down to make them even flatter) I just used two springs, how many is up to you, but I find lots of small chambers created by the O-Rings helps alot. Just stack o-rings/washer/o-ring/washer etc till you have no more space left and the end cap slightly compresses the whole bundle inside the frame.

You have come to the right place.

In the SS everything you need is at home depot. I will tell you one way to get it quiet and then you can see how you like it.

At home depot get some 1″ fender washers. Make sure the hole are about .25″. Get some 1″ PVC pipe. That is what you need to put inside the frame of the SS.

There is about 6″approx space in the shroud to fit all this stuff into. From the muzzle of the barrel measure about 4″ and cut the pvc pipe that length. Then cut the piple length wise so you can compress it and fit it into the shroud. Butt it up against the front bushing. Now drop a 1″ fender washer in on top of it. Cut another section of pvc about .75″ and place it on top of the washer. Place washer on top of that and repeat until you run out of space when you put on the end cap. You can make the chambers any size you want to see what gives you the best results….

Try it out and lets us know how it turned out
