TALKED TO A.F. HAND PUMP ON BACK ORDER-ANYONE KNOW WHY???
A.F. sent me an e-mail confirming what my dealer said about the pump being on back order. Does anyone know why it’s on back order? Like a design change/improvement???? Thanks.

Savagesam does your brass adaptor have an o-ring near the top? It might be defective or the wrong size. Also where the brass adaptor screws into the pump there is a little plastic disc on the bottom where the adaptor presses against it to seal it. Is that there? Good Luck
You can go to Pomona Airguns to take a look at the HILL or Airguns of Arizona for the BSA pump, that is a Hill also.
We tried teflon tape. No good, still leaked. Should have an answer from A.F. today.
Thanks Silent. Anybody got any opinions on the hill pump? I found the axsor on P.A. but not the hill.
you dont have to tighten so hard to stop it from leaking yo just nead to put some teflon tape on the threads and it will seal it up, just tighten until its stops and thats it, it wont strip your threads, the thing is that the treads are not conical and dont get a beter seal the tighter it gets, it works for me.you can fix your pump by geting a 1/8 brass reducer wich threas are conical like the ones that are used fore paintball guns they are a little bit wider sombody hear should know what they are called i cant remember right now.
Savagesam thats what happened to mine. I had to tighten the black adapter really tight to the brass reducer. The brass reducer really tight to the aluminum heat sink. The aluminum heat sink is soft and striped. The axsor pump has a brass fitting that’s harder to strip. Filling an empty bottle to 3000psi takes some effort. After it’s filled I shoot 25 shots and it takes about 70 to 80 pumps to get back to 3000psi. Not that hard and I weigh about 165.
Get this, I hooked my friends tank to my pump and it leaked. Tried like crazy to get it to stop, couldn’t. Didn’t want to mess around too much and have the shop say I did something wrong. So, went to the shop to try the other pump they had. It leaked worse than mine. Was leaking air where the brass nut/fitting screws into the aluminum heat sink AND the brass to steel coupling too. Both pumps leaked at both points. He called A.F. and were supposed to have an answer tomorrow. Maybe I better consider another brand. Will look at hill and ax. Suggestions please……
I measured my Hill pump because of a project Im doing. It takes about 200 pounds of force to compress the final stage. That stage only has a stroke of about two inches though. If you weigh less than 200 you can get some momentum going get past it. My son doesnt weigh that and can pump it with some difficulty, for a bit anyway. Then he pusses out and I get to do the rest.
Ive heard Hills are the hardest to pump though, but take fewer strokes?
Sweet, I’m 210 so shouldn’t be a problem here either. Besides I need the work out lol.
That takes me about 120 pumps. About 4 minutes.
It gets pretty difficult the last 300 psi or so at the bottom of the stroke. I buddy of mine who weighs 155 pounds can’t pump it past 2700. It lifts him off his feet. I’m 220 pounds so no problem.
On a scale of 1-10. 1 being easy/10 being difficult. How hard is it to go from say 2000 to 3000? If it can be answered, approx. how many pumps? How long in time?
Well, I shouldn’t say “no” problems I guess, after about a year was getting a little leak at the bottom of the stroke occasionally; a drop of o-ring oil from my paintball kit applied under the handle (intake valve) and a few dry pumps solved the problem.
That’s good to know. I was feeling like I should of just bought a tank and kept paying to have it filled. I think heating of the seals is what kills them. My gun JUST left Texas less than an hour ago.
I’ve had my af pump for a little over 2 years, used regularly; no problems.

The disc was there and we tried Two different o-rings, then tried them both at once. They (two different pumps) were leaking everywhere they could, including the guage itself. I worked up one hell of a sweat trying to get to 3000. I’m now leaning toward a scuba tank. Where is a good place to ask those (scuba tank) questions?
