quote Anthony266:

Any exposed PCP barrel is going to be rimfire loud.
To shroud them effectively you need 8-10 inches of shroud from the muzzle.

I think one should first define effective.
My latest silencer is only 3″ after muzzle and it is the most silent version of any combination I have tried so far. I have been in progress to post pics of the internals but been busy with other project. 🙂

The point is that one can have silent enaugh with only 3″ or maybe even less. But of course you very likely can make it even more silent with longer extender. But in my opinion it’s not worth it. I am very happy with current setup what comes to sound , weight and size.

I like the length of my Talon SS so much I had Tony make me a custom 16″ barrel. The barrel sits inside the frame and I am able to put the cap back on. Now it is a BAD ASS Talon SS but very noisy. I also had him make me an 8″ shroud that now makes the gun the same length as my AA410 Classic. I love it and had it in the mountains this last weekend blasting pine cones at absurd airgun distances of 120-150 yds. I can go short and loud or long and quiet. If I put my 12″ barrel in the gun and the shroud the gun is TOTALLY QUIET with only a hammer hitting.

I love the shortness of the SS big time….but with the shroud and the accuracy of the LW polygon 16″ barrel it is gaining huge favor. The best part is being able to wack 3-4″ english sparrows at 70 yds with no problem….My wife hates that part…lol

Witch will increase OAL 8-10 inches.

Reason I asked, I found on the Airhog site, a used .22 and a used .177 for sale. When they replied back with email, both were talons and not the SS versions. I was more interested in finding another SS like the one I have to be used by my son.

My Condor has just been transformed into a Condor SS as I just installed a 12″ barrel and endcap that I ordered from Air Force yesterday. Now, I am really liking the carbine feel of my very light and compact rifle. It feels so good to point and shoot. Awesome! The great thing about the gun too is that I don’t have to worry about hitting the barrel and having to rezero the rifle since the barrel doesn’t protrude out of the front end of the frame. Sweet!

Now, if I can get it to be quieter than an SS… Anthony, you’re gonna be a busy guy! 😆

OK thanks. So the Talon w/ 18″ barrel has some of the unshrouded barrel sticking out the end of the frame, thereby I would assume making it alot louder unless a much longer shroud is attached to the frame shroud, this sound about right?

Talon has 18″ barrel shorter frame.
Talon SS has 12” barrel longer frame.
Everything else is exactly the same.
