lol…or…”they were coming right for me!”
I’ve never shot a seagull, but used to let them fish for each other when I was a kid.
Take 2 baitholder hooks size 8. Tie about 5′ monofilament between the hooks. Add a miniature marshmallow to each, toss it in the water. Take a handfull of marshmallows and toss out with it.
Pretty soon you have a half-dozen gulls going after the marshmallows. As soon as one picks up a hook, it flies off dragging the second hook behind. Every time, a second gull will chase down that flying marshmallow.
Once , we found 2 gulls dangling from a powerline… bonus!
Just don’t tell anyone.
so if i have hundreds of doves flying around pooping all over my house, does that mean they are pests and I can shoot em?
That is flying and ground S’s. It depends whether or not the county you are in has a season on them. We do not, so they are non game.
Amended. I should say no closed season. No season, means you can not hunt them. No closed season, means just that. Usually with no bag limit.
When the same animals are causing damage, they then become pest. The season,or lack there of doesn’t apply to pest.

The last seagull I shot was from beneath the waves. Game fish were skidish and kept out range. I was diving and rose to just beneath the surface. A gull was screaming at me through the water. I shot the thing with a speargun from under the water with my speargun. I dragged my kill from the rocks and gutted and quaterer the thing underwtater. The fish came charging in once the bait was laid. I had my pick for dinner.
Dinner was good that evening, lots of fresh fish to enjoy. Screw seagulls. They are air rats of the sea. They do make good bait though. AKULA
Everything is protected now days. The whole Country has gone Cali-Wierd!
Actually we have one of the most liberal Airgun laws in the country. We can legally hunt with them and even take Turkey with them.
The Damn seagull are federally protected.
Actually, for as liberal a gun state as Texas, it is illegal to take any game animal in Texas with an airgun. Go figure.

Well, that too; the Gulls were seen as the Souls of those lost at sea guiding Sailors safely back to shore.
I thought it was from even farther back when if they saw gulls it meant they were getting close to land?
Merchant Sailors traditionally believe that it’s highly unlucky and a bad omen to kill a Gull, as the birds were seen as an incarnation of those lost at sea.
