Resting the gun for accuracy
I know that resting the barrel of a gun on a surface of an object can throw off accuracy. What if I rest the metal between the forearm of the gun and the pistol grip on an object?

Yes, what you want to avoid is resting it on the end of the frame on the muzzle end. That will apply a leverage force to the barrel bushings and can result in a change of POI.
But will it be accurate if it’s rested on the part between the forearm and the pistol grip?
Rest the gun on the forearm and you will not have a problem.
