Q:

Really shot my condor today, did not dissapoint!

Greg at AZ airguns did a great job siteing in the rifle! I still have a lot of rounds to shoot to really get comfortable shooting it, my groupes are not what I was hoping for but the more I shot the better they got.

I also need to learn how each pellet shoots and what scope settings I need to do for each pellet. I am much more impressed with the Condor out of the box than I was with my Beeman, it took me about 6 solid hours of shooting to get 1″ at 35 yd groupes and I have shot my condor about 30 minutes total and thats about what I am shooting right now.

The best pellet for my condor is 21 gr. kodiak. Going 1025 fps on average, I have no problems with accuracy: 3/4 in. at 50 yards.
Anything lighter is going all over the place.

The pellets I have had great luck with are CP’s, BFTS, Kodiaks….

They serve me well and are very accurate. Velocity wise I shoot everything no matter what sub 950fps…just for accuracy sake.

Anyone have a breakdown of what pellet does best at what velocity or power range? That would be a useful bit of info to have.

The Condor is not a pellet-picky rifle. It is just a matter of shooting particular pellets at the velocities that they are very accurate at. In my rifle, Crosman Premiers shoot one-holers starting at 780 FPS to 880 FPS. With Kodiaks, they are one-holers starting at 800 FPS to 950 FPS. I’ve never tried JSBs in my Condor, but I am sure they are just as accurate as the two mentioned if they are shot at the velocities that they were intended and designed to be shot at.

I posted a thread in this and another forum on pellet stabilization based on my testing on when pellets become accurate with relation to barrel twist rates and velocity. One of the statements I made was that the pellets need to be stabilized enough to fly straight. So, with the varying weights of pellets from brand-to-brand, the rifle needs to be adjusted to suit the pellet it is shooting. The great thing about the Air Force rifles is that it has power adjustability – using the tophat in conjunction with the power wheel. Because of this feature, the AF rifles can accommodate almost any pellet available.

Enjoy your new big, bad bird! 😀
