Q:

quick talon ss question

Working with a guy right now to purchase his talon SS. I believe it was manufactored in 2004. Has AirForce made any mods or changes to their guns from 2004 to now that I may need to know about?

Having read a lot of posts over the years about the AF guns, it seems that the older ones – pre mid year 2005 did not have the problems with shooting a full 3000psi fill with the valve/hammer setup it came with. I bought mine in new in 2004 and after eliminating the hammer chatter it would shoot at a 3100psi fill and a pw setting of 10 with no duds. There was alot of problems over the past few years of AF guns that can’t be filled to 3000psi and shot w/o getting alot of duds (shots that sounded way quieter, and the pellet barely moved out of the barrel). The only real problem I had with mine is the screw that sets the power wheel finally stipped out in the plastic piece that fits into the spring.

OK guys, I just sent a money order off to this guy for the “new to me” little shooting stick. Don’t guess I can go wrong with this deal. He had the rifle posted for $265 + $15 shipping. After all said and done, he is shipping it with rings and a 3-10 x 44 BSA scope. Now it’s up to you guys to help me get it built up to how it should be.

I will need to go ahead and get me a fill adapter right now. I have a 4500psi CF tank that I fill my Air Arms S410 from. It has a quick connect that the fill adapter for the rifle attaches to the hose, so can somone line me out on what kind of adapter I need for filling this talon SS as well as the kind of quick disconnect fitting to go on the adapter to switch between filling both rifles?

Jump on it Rick,

Those are minor differences and nothing that cannot be repaired or improved on.

Good Luck

I wish I could be of more help but I bought mine in 2005 and I know they have made changes. As Tony said it might have delrin bushings and one set screw per bushing.

If you get it at a good price you can always get some bushing made and have another set screw installed.

The problem is just by the date it is hard to tell because they did tend to change things up during that time period. Some are one way and some are another. They are more consistent now but then not so much.

Either way we can help you with what you get 🙂

Tony, Hey Thanks for the response. Yes, it is the one on the yellow classifieds. Is this something I should pass on and hold off for a newer model gun?

I appreciate your help

Rick

Hey Trigger,
Just off the top of my head, older models have delrin barrel bushings and probably only one set screw per bushing.

You might also have the older style hammer.

Is this the one off the Yellow classifieds?
