Polishing the barrel
When I change out my front bushing is it a good idea to polish the breech end of the barrel. 600 paper or rouge polish? I don’t have any crocus cloth anymore. Get that part nice and shiny? I don’t recall where I read something along these lines.

It will not rust when coated with silicone.
How do you keep the polished barrels from rusting? Clear coat or just keep them lubed?

Yes John,
It is a real good idea to polish the breech end of your barrel and remember to keep your breech orings well lubed with divers silicone.
600 grit will work fine.

Silicone is tenacious shit. It is almost impossible to totally remove. It is banned from anywere that paints because if it gets on the metal or wood the paint or finish will not stick to it.
