Q:

Off center shroud?

Does anyone have experience with an off-center shroud? I’ve been pondering the Career’s and Sumatra’s but there is very little room for shrouding these beasts. If I can put the hole off center I could use a 3/4″ or maybe 1″ tube for a shroud with little trouble.

Any one out there know or try something like this???

It probably needs to be at least 8″ longer then the barrel and making the baffles ought to be fun and challenging.

I wouldn’t be so sure about it. Mine is only 3″ longer than barrel and seems to be very effective. It’s the overall volume that has most effect. Doesn’t matter if it’s behind barrel as long as you can add FEW baffels in front.

Standard talon barrel extends 4″ from frame. Shroud in pic is only 7″ total.

I’ve been pondering and wonder if something like this might not work better? http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=777&highlight= this is the shroud Teflon Tron had done on his Airwolf and they just cut part of the tube out to fit past the air cylinder… It would be difficult but possible to seal the cut in the tube to keep all of that air volume and I’m picturing a couple ways to do this… might look something like this

I pasted a longer wood forearm on it to see what it looked like, kinda cool I think… removing the iron sights and maybe have the shroud extend 4 inches past the barrel. With some good baffles in there and vent the rear tube some in hopes of making the shroud as efficient as possible. I think making the tube even with the Reciever top would help make it look less conspicious? might start with 6 inches past as it’s easier to cut metal off than add metal back. To test a shorter tube I could make an endcap that could go back into the tube 1″, 2″ or 3″ and experiment with how much louder it gets as I take away space and baffles.

H-m-m-m going to ponder this some more but I think this is very doable.
