nOOb Alert…
Well, with some help from the likes of Triggerman and Teflon Tron, I am now able to join this community, my PC just didn’t seem to allow me to register for whatever reason. I’ve been lurking here for a while, and it seems there’s a nice bunch here, and I’m glad to now be a part of it.
I am relatively new in the air gun hobby, but I’ve been interested in getting a gun for some time now. A few months ago, I purchased my first gun from Tim at Mac 1, a Crosman 2250. It didn’t stay stock for very long, as Tim and another airgunsmith friend of mine made quite a few changes to it. Valve work, steel breach, springs, 3.5oz bottle, 21″ barrel, custom valve stem, extended bolt probe, Beeman 3-9 X 32 AO scope ect ect. I almost always shoot it in pistol form with nice wood grips, and fore stock with a bi-pod. Very accurate, but very loud. Since I ditched the piercing pin in the valve, (for still more volume) I could no longer use 12 gram powerlets, and was basically forced to go whole hog and get at tank and a fill station so I could fill the bottles myself.
The friend I mentioned earlier has about 1200 airguns in his garage. I’m not kidding, every kind of gun you can imagine, some of them antiques, and he let me shoot many of them. He always warned me about the short comings of C02, the main thing being how it reacts to temperature change, and I soon found that out for myself, as on colder days I would put a hairdryer to the bottle on my gun, or strap those heat bags for muscle aches to the bottle, to keep shooting full power. He let me shoot his semi-auto FX Monsoon… wow, me likey! I think he was trying to get me away from C02… and I guess he did.
Thing was, I already just dumped a bunch of moo-lah on a gun, tank, ect, and wasn’t really ready to dump a bunch more on a much more expensive gun, another tank, better scope ect. Then in my PC surfing I stumbled along AirForce rifles. I started doing major reaserch on them, and found them interesting, unique. Swap barrels in minutes? Sounds awesome to me. And they didn’t cost 1000 bucks plus. Finally I called my freind up again, (his name is Greg Fuller) and asked what he knows about them. He said “I got one here, didn’t I show it to you? I say WHAT? Which one? He says “The Talon with the shrouded barrel.” He had the SS! He bought it in 2002 at a gun show and had been sitting in a rifle bag ever since. I shoot right down to his garage. He pulls it out, and sets up the crono. This thing hasn’t been shot in 5-6 years, and was in pristine condition. It did a 920 with Hobbies, High 8ts in 14.3, and a 787 with Kodiaks. (just under 30 fpe) And SO quite compared to my 2250. Well that was it, I bit the bullet, (er, pellet) the next night I came back with the $350.00 he originally payed for it, and took it home. Tim told me he had a full, used tank with clamp and adapter for $165.00, so I stopped by his shop and picked that up. My scope finally came today, but I had to return it! But that’s a different story. So there you have it. Sorry for the ramble, just wanted to give you guys a bit of my backround, and again, to say hi. Hope all had a great X-mas, and a even better New Year… 😀

So what about that scope? You’ve been waiting on pins and needles for a week now, what happened?
Rick
Hey Rick! glad to finally be here. Yes, the scope. Today I hear a noise by the door. Lo and Behold, it has arrived…oh yes, it shall now be mine. I open the box, and see a hand written note on the invoice, saying I got a free up-grade with no charge. This ‘upgrade’ was a 8-32 instead of a 4-16, which is what I ordered. This might be a upgrade to many, but since most of my shooting is in a 20 yd backyard, I just don’t need all that magnification. I shoot my other gun at this range on 5-6 power, and it’s perfect. Anything more for me at this range and things get a bit to shaky. This scope starts at 8. I mounted it anyway just so I could finally shoot the gun, and thinking maybe I could just deal with it. I take my first gander thru the scope… only to see some black debris/goober/blob thing hanging down from about 10 o’clock, there’s some piece of #%@&%$ inside the tube obstructing the view… CRAP. I called them up and they said they will send what I originally ordered. So I packed it back up, and will have to wait longer. Just my luck eh. But I did zero it in at 60 ft, dead on. I took pics of the gun with the scope on before I packed it, I must say the gun has a whole new look when it’s on, it looks great. This scope is massive. I’ll send you a couple of pics. Not sure how to post pics here just yet.
