Q:

Newest Toys

Just finished these up here at the shop, and got them mailed out.

the customer sent (E-mailed) me the this pic as I forgot to take one. It is only a scan, but it came out pretty good.

they are the Wilderness and Mini Wilderness. Both in Desert Iron Wood, 154-CM stock. 1/4″ for the Wilderness. 3/16″ for the mini. With 416 Stainless for the guards.

I spent about a week each making them from the raw barstock.

Hope you like e’m!!!

Sounds like a plan!

I killed my Air gun budget last month buying that Zeiss Scope for it!

I need a Condor valve to try next!

So…….Ive got a master plan ! hehe …. all i have to do is hack my knife out and buff it abit then send it too Knifemaker so he cut something with it ie rabbit , someone he dosnt like ! (hehe) and the value of my knife will go up ! got to be at least double to £4.52 . Thats twice the value of the scrap parts before i start making it ………cant lose LoL 😯
Theres bound to be a fatal flaw in my plan somewhere………hmmmm!

to be honest mate i would love to be able to pay that for a knife and if i had it would be one off yours but hell man i can,t even afford a good car .lol spend to much on my guns lol

I make custom duck decoys, and see the same sort of thing as the knife world. I’m a middle-to-low-end guy, as my decoys fetch between $350 and $700 each, where my mentors routinely sell decoys at $3,500 to $25,000. Each. That’s new stuff. The antiques from long dead carvers have zero added at the end. In fact, a couple have topped a million bux in private sales. It’s nothing to go to a decoy auction and see over 5 million bux trade hands. Art needs no justification when it comes to prices or anything else. What’s it worth? Whatever someone will pay.

Really nice work knife maker and a really nice price too ! . I’m sure if i was loaded i would buy one just to look at , like the works of art that would hang on my country estate wall……. dreams lol. One thing that bugs me !about this type of collector is that they don’t get to use it ! I would like to know how it cuts and feels. If you did use it i guess it would knock the price some what ! unlike say if you took your Ferrari out on a race track , smacked it about a bit and won a major race, it would add to its value !. Even the art on the wall collects a better price if its aged right.
Think I’m going to have ago at making one as i need a knife for my hunting permission (……. very crude one compared to yours LoL ) and hate the mass production crap from China , always fanced making my own knife and i just like the idea of playing with carcoal. Found a page a while ago
http://www.greenpete.co.uk/?page_id=503 looks like another project to add to my list hehe ………..maybe in twenty years il be making something shiney !

Problem with that Buba, is that it would only add to the value if the man racing the car was a big name race car driver with a wide reputation.

People actually offer to pay extra, sometimes a lot extra to buy a knife I’m carrying and using rather than a new one. Guess I’m famous! Haa!!!

I did clean a squirrel a while back with a 5800. Loveless. Didn’t hurt it’s value one bit. Heck. It may have gone up since it was me doing it. Hee!

The same people collect our knives that collect fine paintings and other high end collectibles.

Watches are another area. No a fine Rolex wont tell time any better than a cheap Timex. But you would never be able to sell the Timex
to get your self out of a jam!

One thing that draws the collectors as investors is that you can’t go down to the bank and play with your CD’s. Or carry your stocks and bonds to the country club to show your friends. I never saw a show of group of people dedicated to admiring the fine workmanship of a Brokerage report. We get to do all that. Play with them. Admire them, Show and tell. And we in the end, get paid well for enjoying them. Just takes the price of admission to get started. Same with Exotic cars. Most collectors make money on them! Who wouldn’t enjoy driving a Ferrari and getting paid to do so!!

You know. I have worn several Rolex’s over the years.
After selling theim I realized, in the end, none of them ended up costing me a dime. i could have worn Timex’s, but then that woulf have cost a few bucks! Haa! Guess I’m just a tight A**!

Buba,

Take a look here. This would be a great way to make a knife and get out of the shop at the same time.

No Kikking! last season, in Chicago, a Loveless make in 1954 or 57 auctioned for 150,000.00.

Why would anybody in their right mind pay that kind of money?

I’ll tel lyou why. The very nest day the winnner of the auction sold that same knife for 250,000.00. Thats right. A quater of a Million U.S. Dollars. No doubt it will bring more in the future.

Fine Knives are one of the highest return on the envestment dollar you can make. Find a CD at te bank that can give you a 50-100% a year return.

Your quality and skill is excellent, though I can’t see someone trying to justify a purchase of $3,000-$14,000 on a knife.

It is not just somebody it many thousands of some bodies. Goes to the newstand and pick up an issue of Blade or Knife Illustrated. Then go to sports section and take a look at all the books on knives.

We dont have anything like that for airguns.

Knives are works of art and demand artwork prices.

Well MM, not really. I mean I didn’t mine and smelt the steel. I started with 6′ bars of Jet Turbine steel. Thanks Sir!

I’m with you Adam! I just herd that there were some small tornado’s near his shop today. In Cali. no less. wild! I think I’ll give Bob a call to see if every thing is all right!

Saw these on a visit to his shop a couple of years ago. No telling what the price tag on all these would be!

I think I put on my ninja outfit and make a raid at Bobs shop….LOL
