Q:

New Trigger Modification…..the lazy way

Earlier I did the post travel modification that YN showed in his post. I have been to lazy to install the pre travel modification. Since it requires taking out the trigger and chucking it up the frame into the mill to drill the hole in the frame I thought how could I accomplish the same thing with out all the work.

So I put my massive head into gear and this is what I came up with. I will later actually make a trigger with this mod out of aluminum but for now this works great.

I already had several set screws and found one that was a good size. I drill a hole into the slot of the trigger and tapped the hole. Then I installed the set screw and fiddled with it until I got the length I wanted. When I installed it onto the gun I adjusted the set screw and the trigger until I had it in place where I wanted it.

I have it set so only a fraction of the pre travel is left. It takes a little adjusting the position of the trigger and set screw but it works just like I planned. Now the trigger is set to where there is only .010″ travel until the trigger hit resistence and a total of .045″ until the trigger releases the sear. The good thing is it totally reversible and is a modification anyone can do. Just make sure the set screw does not have to small of a diameter otherwise it will go into the trigger slot.

I used an 8-32 1/2 stainless set screw. Works well and I hope this helps out someone else who wants this mod done but does not or can not drill their frame

I call it the Walk on King Pre Travel trigger mod…catchy isn’t it?

Ahhh, right, I forgot you had the custom grip frame.

Yes, when you tighten it down there should be no play, its tightend down after all. But when those are loose you can move the plate forward or backward just enough to act as a trigger stop in either direction. You ony have to do this once so it isnt really that much of a pain and it does it with no mods to the gun.

You can work the action with that plate loose to determine where to tighten the plate down and once its set you dont have to do it again. It takes just a couple minutes to do this. This does however only give you a stop in one direction for the trigger.

Dont think that will work on my gun. The plate has a hole in the back and I have a pin in the grip frame that fits into this hole. If I pull the grip back to move the plate for the trigger then I would have a gap between the trigger guard and the grip frame. When I machined those parts up I took out all of the slack to fit tight. I do not have the play between the trigger guard and grip. I took that slop out when I designed those parts to go together.

So the sloppy plate adjustment just wont work for me…shucks… 😀

Nice WOK. I also noticed you can move the plate with the slot that the trigger goes through forward or back enough to do the same thing. No mods required.

This works so well I cant believe I did not think of it earlier.

Adam; Everyone loves a lazy engineer who believes in the KISS principal. KISS stands for “keep it simple, stupid.” You’ve proved your ability in this area and I applaud you and your new design. Well done! AKULA

P.S. I’m a lazy engineer. I’m so lazy that I left the engineering profession and became a Navy pilot. You can’t get much lazier than that!
