New Trigger Modification…..the lazy way
Earlier I did the post travel modification that YN showed in his post. I have been to lazy to install the pre travel modification. Since it requires taking out the trigger and chucking it up the frame into the mill to drill the hole in the frame I thought how could I accomplish the same thing with out all the work.
So I put my massive head into gear and this is what I came up with. I will later actually make a trigger with this mod out of aluminum but for now this works great.
I already had several set screws and found one that was a good size. I drill a hole into the slot of the trigger and tapped the hole. Then I installed the set screw and fiddled with it until I got the length I wanted. When I installed it onto the gun I adjusted the set screw and the trigger until I had it in place where I wanted it.
I have it set so only a fraction of the pre travel is left. It takes a little adjusting the position of the trigger and set screw but it works just like I planned. Now the trigger is set to where there is only .010″ travel until the trigger hit resistence and a total of .045″ until the trigger releases the sear. The good thing is it totally reversible and is a modification anyone can do. Just make sure the set screw does not have to small of a diameter otherwise it will go into the trigger slot.
I used an 8-32 1/2 stainless set screw. Works well and I hope this helps out someone else who wants this mod done but does not or can not drill their frame
I call it the Walk on King Pre Travel trigger mod…catchy isn’t it?
