New Member intro and Crosman G1 question
This serves as my intro as a new member.
I have already posted a few, but now to make it official with a question and a bit about myself.
Q. How is the Crosman G1 rifle for a shooter?
About me (and my guns)
I live near Hastings, Minnesota, married with 2 kids who … God lov’m but they have both moved out of the house…!! (FREEEDOM!!!)
I am just getting into Airguns at 50 years of age!
I would love a great PCP like a Talon but it is not in my budget.
I got a Crosman 1088 for Christmas from the son-in-law for plink’n and pesky sparrow control and I recently purchased a Beeman P-17 pistol which is working great and is my favorite so far for the consistant velocity from the single pump action and good accuracy. I am having a great time with both in the basement with a 10 yard range setup. I am working on ideas for improving the red-dot that came with the Beeman P-17 and on adding scope mounts to the top of the 1088 for a red-dot or maybe just a fiber optic setup.
The P-17 also needs a few tweeks on the rear sight, aim point keeps moving up or down when cocked, so I will have to work on improving that as well as the screw keeps moving. I may devise a peep sight for it with a fiber optic front sight as my eyesight is not what it once was and I think this would work better for me than trying line up the rear sight blade notch and the front sight when I can not focus on both at the same time. Growing old really sucks…. Maybe I can get my eyes refurbished… LOL! (at least everything else is still working very well…)
I also do some hunting during deer season here in Minnesota with my Marlin lever-action 30-30 and I have a Remington 597 .22LR that is a lot of fun as well. (Just not in the basement….) I also have a .45 black powder Kentucky long-rifle that I have used to blast pocket gophers, much to the amusement of my neighbors who were watching at the time.
I live in the country in a development but I can shoot in my backyard during daylight hours per the township rules. The projectile just can not leave your property lines is pretty much the only rule. (I asked one of the local sheriffs… who is also one of my neighbors!)
I only have to go about 300 yds to shoot the 30-30 into a bank at the edge of a field. That one I don’t feel comfortable shooting in the backyard for obvious reasons.
That’s all for now!
Hope to learn even more than I already have in the short time I have been in this very addictive sport.

I would say gamo is the best of the “low end” guns.
