Q:

New Condor

Got a new Condor. New top hat according to Airforce. Took it out for the first shoot today. 2 in same hole, then a flyer then 1 in the first group then another flyer. Group size now 4 inches. Another group same results. Another group similiar results. I got it on paper and settled down at a lazer’ed 42 yards. No wind, good rest. I started shooting with the wheel set at 5.0, first group. I was shooting Kodiacs (sp?) No consistancy. After a few groups (patterns) I adjusted wheel to 6.0. No improvement. I went up to 8.5 before I gave up. I have read most of the posts on this site and thought I knew what to do. I have not adjusted the top hat, not sure how but have shot 10 five or six shot groups today and need help. I’m a trained sniper and shoot pistol and benchrest matches. I win more than I lose. I’m not taking me out of the problem but I can shoot. In the groups I shot, I would get 2 or 3 touching out of 5 or 6 shots the flyers made no sence. 1 way right the other way left or up and down. How do you began to set this thing up. I like the power. I turned the power wheel all the way up and shot a Kodiac through a new treated 2×6 at 20 yards. Its a hell of a pellet rifle. I left the power wheel set low so I could use cheap pellets to get on paper. I went back and forth between Benjamin and Beemans and saw no real diff in groups. I did not use a chrony but with the wheel set at 5.0 or 6, I should have been sub-sonic. Please help.

My new 18″ bbl in .22 wouldn’t group until i laped barrel. I used Flitz on a patch to do it. Followed by goo be gone, then FP-10 lube, and more dry patches.

Semi Chrome or a bore paste should work just as well. She’ll do 1/2″ at 50 yds, and 1 1/4″ at 100 yds. now.

Welcome,

A few things to check. Make sure your barrel bushing screws are snug. Clean your barrel. Look at the crown and make sure there is no burr. And while shooting make sure you are not holding the rifle to firmly. If you are it will leverage the bottle against the frame and it will throw off your accuracy. Also double check your scope to insure it parrallax adjustment is dead on and the the POI change is not coming from your optics.
