New Breech
Hello,
Yesterday I made a new breech also while I was working on hammer and thought I share the idea. It’s pretty much similar to existing but the design is made so that it’s easier to manufacture if you’re not good with small inside-hole-O-rings.
The body is from aluminium (to be anodised later). The core is POM-plastic because I don’t want to let AL touch the barrel’s polished breech area (to avoid scratches for O-ring sealing surface). The core plastic tubes are press fitted and the barrel breech OD-“bore” hole is drilled after fitting to be precise and cocentric perfectly. The main idea is that when the plastic core eventually wears you can change it as well as the O-rings.
There are 2 orings in the frontside because it wears much more (travel over barrel is 10x more than over tophat).
It may look more complicated than standard breech but it’s actually quite easy and very fast to make.

😀 My pleasure and glad if I can give something back for stealing your excellent butt design. Just remember to drill the middle tube hole AFTER press fitting so you can make perfectly precise.
And thanks for compliments guys. I hope you don’t get bored for my constant spamming of new designs or mods. I got hooked to modding and can’t stop myself 😀
Plus I found a new smaller and more precise lathe from out workshop. It’s so much easier to do anything with that.

Adam; Lol. I know the term. We used to call it engineering porn. Obsolote fancy gadgets on a machine without use but looks cool 😉
