Need advice on a scope
I’m paralyzed by the options, and I’m either at the point or rapidly approaching the point where Tony will have built my SS faster than I could decide on a scope. I need to make a decision.
Shooting will be 10-100 yards with the occasional long shot just to mix it up.
AO is required, and I really like side focus AO but could live without it.
Don’t think that I’ll need magnification above 16, although I’d be willing to go to 24ish. Prefer nothing higher than 4 at the bottom.
I have some short-range pest control, maybe just add a laser for the really short stuff?
Prefer 30mm tube, really prefer 34mm but money is an issue.
40mm objective is good, if I go out at night I’ll change to NV.
Reticle – mil dot is the obvious answer for resale, but I also like a simple illuminated target dot.
For mounting I’m thinking the BKL 4″ single piece cantilever on top of an AF tri-rail.
Budget – hard to say but I’m comfortable spending more than $500 and I get pretty uncomfortable around $1500.
You see my dilema? Got any thoughts other than that a guy with a grand that can’t pick a scope must be an idiot?
Thanks all, go knock down a rat for me
Jim

I don’t think that I’m confused about parallax vs focus, mostly as a result of the fine contributions of many folks right here at TAG. Of course I could be wrong.
I think of parallax adjustment as giving both close focusing and parallax adjustment. If I could get close focusing without parallax adjustment I’d probably be okay with that since you can deal with parallax with good technique but can’t do a thing about focus.
So, how out-of-focus is the Zeiss at 10 yards?
