My ignorance cost me a Condor tank!
Put it in my checked bags and TSA took it out and left a tag saying “no compressed air” 😥
I HATE learning the hard way…Jim.

back in 93 i flew from halifax after have spent a year in nova scotia…i had aquired a .357 crosman….i flew home with it sandwhiched between 2 rc cars (kyosho burns and inferno) which have thick aluminum plates everything mounts to…..never a problem
took a beretta metal softgun (real nice clone) whith me home a couple of years ago….30 minutes before boarding got called ove rthe speakers to go nearest help desk….they didnt like the looks of the gun and wanted me to come down someplace and show them what it was…i was able to say softgun enough times…they got it….
cant say im impressed with them….but tsa or what ever….have any of you tried calling immigrations or simelar lately….computer computer computer…when you finally get a person, they ramble on like a computer…they cant deviate from their questionaire…they cant act like a freaking human….bitches….i wanted to get a shotgun NICS kept saying no as they didnt think ive been in the country long enough….they said to contact INS/ICE….and thats impossible…turns out the dont give a flying rats ass that i have been here the 90 days continously required (yes i have lived in the states for 3 years now)….apparently with greencard they reset that date….and trying to get them to understand that greencard date is one thing….but its the actual entry date since last out of country thing….well…arghhhh is just blody tough luck….freaking stupid rules…i allready own 2 firearms…but getting a third…nooo not possible till april….thats is if i dont leave the country on vacation or something….cant even drive to NS-canada to visit the family i stayed with back in 1992/93…not if i want a gun anyway
I took some nice Spyderco pocket knifes down to Texas to give to some of my kin folks.
Since small items like pocket knifes sometimes get swiped out of checked luggage,
I decided to cable tie the knifes to a 4″x16″ 1/8″ G10 board.
(Too big to put in those baggy TSA pants pockets).
When I got to Texas, I had to borrow some wire cutters to get them off the G10.
But, they all made it past the Boston TSA jerks.
On the way home, my little Spyderco Standard had to ride by it self on the G10.
If I never have to fly another airline again, it will be too soon..
Cheers,
Rich
sorry to hear that man! please let us know wether you got it back!
teflon i think its by HARRY TODDLER there is a few vids of his on youtube, yeah its a funny song you gota hear it,yea ricin peas n jerk chicken with salad is nice not had any for a while now, cannot think of the name of song though, but will find out for ya,
I’ll call the TSA number and see if maybe it is still at the Dayton Airport in Ohio? that is where the luggage started it voyage.
I’m kinda half afraid to ask also as I wonder if it is like a Federal offense to accidentally put something in your luggage like a lighter or ????
They took my Super Leatherman, Pepper Spray and $5 4 years ago, my address and name and were going to “mail it to me”…I never saw it again…fuckers 👿 I was pretty pissed about that as it had sentimental value.
Knifemaker…dude I’d be FREAKING out every dealt with those monkeys if I was shipping custom knifes? I’ve heard tons of horror stories on shipping stuff through the airlines…next time I’ll walk it through security or just mail it to my self
TSA is WAYYYYYY better than they started but they still need a lot of help…at least I’m off there terrorist list or whatever I was on where I got the shakedown EVERY time I went anywhere…head to f’ing toe I was getting PISSED still on Active duty and getting EVERYTHING rifled through, dude told me I must be on a list cause I was flagged to be checked.
I’ve got other Talon bottles and some of those 1,000CC ones I just need to make a valve for…I’m NOT paying $190 for a new Condor tank though 😡
Happy little tree’s! Jim.
Ha, that’s wonderful!! What is the song and who is it by?
I always wondered if any Jamaicans got in trouble by talking too loudly about Ricin Peas…..
The TSA is staffed by idiotic losers. People that never amounted to anything in life now had a chance to grab a Govt. job. I’m sure the screening of potential applicants was minimal but most likely non-existant.
TSA: Are you a loser who has a drinking problem, been fired in record time from every job you’ve ever had, and still live at home with your Mom & Dad?
Applicant: Yes Sir!!
TSA: You’re Hired. 8) 8)
Over the 16 years I’ve lived here I’ve met countless thousands of people. Small Island(s).
I knew several people who were complete & utter LOSERS who were hired by TSA to work at Honolulu International. What a fucking joke.
Traveling outer island for work was no better…men & women who were in their late sixties plus now checking bags at the terminal. Buncha “has beens and used to be’s” were on the biggest power trip you can imagine.
When the US Govt. gets involved you can be assured that they will fuck up whatever they touch.
Harry
fuck that sucks dude ! you should be able to get it back though
first of the guys checking this shit might seem exstremly anal about it all, but remember they see thousands of people everyday repeating the same stupid tsa offences constantly trying to sneak a friggin nail clipper or bottle of water onboard….
what i dont get is why they dont offer you a chance to mail the stuff to your self…say if they caught my swiss army knife in carryon…then charge me 10 bucks for an envelope and let me mail it to my self….i mean common some of the things they confiscate are valuable
if they snatch something from you checked luggage, it should end up somewhere you can pick it up or have it returned to you….file a claim for the price of a new tank and see what happens
when i have flown with rifles or prepped them to be checked at the airport it has allways been important to
1, open tanks, on AF rifles unscrew the valve, on careers unscrews the endplugs on both tanks, most rifles have endplugs that come off easily AA410/b51 it does take a wise and a good grip the first time…but then they can flash down the tube and see its empty
2, rifle case locked or unlocked…well….TSA says firearms should be locked…airguns are not considered firearms many places…they say to leave the key with the luggage…this is ok…you get the key back at the gate befoe boarding…but if have a connecting flight through another country they might wanna see the rifle too…and they probably wont ask for a key (lost 40 bucks of nice locks that way) why they wanted to check something that the americans had allready checked and was not destined for their country anyway baffles me, but they did….on top of that the 2 riflecases i had with me got delayed…and i had to go pick them up 2 days later which was bothersome…….so my suggestion is leave it unlocked
3, i was told they like to see a trigger lock on the rifle….its doesnt say anywhere they want that, so it might just have been a suggestion for further travels
4, bigbore pellets draws attention apparently….9mm rifle by it self was ok…aa410 .22 with pellets was ok….9mm rifle with 9mm pellets needed to be checked
5 print out the country(s)/state your going to laws and regulations on international flights, even the airlines own rules, and tsa papers….lots of the people handling you checked in stuff knows everyday stuff, but when you come luggin a 1000$ high power airrifle they dont know what to do…stay calm, pull out the papers you printed confidently point to the places where it says “im allowed” twice this has happened with rifle i have carried or had carried for me….they see the rifle case…go all pale in the face…grab the phone…come back saying you cant take this…show the papers….and they go “ohhh ok” without the research beforehand i might have been forced to leave it or something.
not really airgun related….just kind of baffled me….from denmark to iceland and iceland to boston, the crew where handing out waterbottles for the flight before we entered the cabin….from boston to miami, water bottles where as usual confiscated at checkin, but water bought after checkin was fine…..miami to buenos aires, again the water removed at checkin but bought on the checked side it was ok. from chile to miami nothing was allowed…..miami to boston water was taken away in the gangway ?!?! it was ok one direction but not the other ? but funny thing was only people with carryon got checked…i had my bottle in my inner pocket of my jacket and no luggage….i got waved by…i never saw what they where checking for…only when i had gotten to my seat, my wife asked how i got the bottle of water, cause all of her family had theirs taken away….so much for security
you may or may not find this song funny, this story reminded me of that reggea song where the Jamaican travels by air to the states with his machete as he hopes to continue to earn money doing his gardening whilst in the states, when he arrives the customs ask him what the machete was for and he tells them “its to chop BUSH”but on a more serious note i reckon some dude will come up with a bottle for ya on here, hey i bet they didnt even destroy the bottle its probably gone to one of the goverment auctions, who do you ask to get it back though?
I can’t tell how many night mares I’ve had flying to Knife Shows. The TSA and especially the checkers at the gates have t be the dumbest, most arrogant a-holes on the planet! And not a one of them seem to have a clue as to what the laws are and are not. 👿
Them there Radical Muslims won……..whole damn country is under lockdown. You should see the shit we go thru just to get into the Refinery……search truck, search personnell, get truck sniffed by “bomb sniffing dog” on & on & on. 👿 👿
Goddamn US Govt. did everything but suspend the flight priviliges from the attackers countries.
Harry
That sucks. Man I will have to ship my tanks and bird just to go on a hunt if I fly? Damn!!!!!
Oh, I see…
Thanks Y! I now realize that the tank is not the issue… but what’s inside is the matter…
Blackops… there is no way to get it back? That sucks, uh?
A few years ago a couple of Brazilians were arrested in the US because they had an air pump… they told the customs agent that the air pump was a bomb! Here in Brazil the meaning of air bomb is the same as air pump…
Hey Crimson, mailing it is fine but checking it on an airplane isn’t..nor is a lot of other stuff. If I had taken the valve out they could have looked inside and put it back in…
Rowdy, you would have definitely have liked to have been with me when I checked my RC airplane stuff 😆 imagine 6, 8 and 12 “C” batteries taped together with wires coming out the end…I had a bunch of this stuff in a Hard Golf club case and DAMN that X-ray guys eyes bugged the hell out and then looked right at me 😯 😯 😯 😯 he prolly shit his pants before I told him it was batteries for an RC airplane…they had me open the case and show them and I was fine…I got a good giggle out of it after the fact.
WOK that would be a good sticky… been a while since I learned something the hard way 😆 damnit!
Jim.

I remember going on trips out west (for work) before 9/11 and I was
able to take my Spyderco Standard on board in my pocket.
Never had a problem with any airline.
But now, they found a place where idiots can work (the TSA)
so the rest of us have to suffer.
For sure, I would vote for the man who said he was going to fire the TSA..

So how is that mill working for you? The first thing I did was get a vise for my
little drill-mill. Made some blocks to lock it down with regular old bolts..

Those bolts were a little long, so I milled the down some. 🙂
