Q:

My Filarms came !!!

Took a while to arrive, so I actually tidied my workbench prior to it showing up and couldnt help myself from taking pictures ❗

Barrel is drooping a bit and the stock is the usual dipped in varnish finish so thats going to come off, but for $30 I was pleasantly surprised.

I shot it once to make sure it worked and then took it apart. Trigger wasnt that bad, I was expecting much worse from reading about it online.

Just need to buy some finer grit sandpaper and some leather stuff for the seals and it will be a quick “tune” and then back together.

Just needed to put a little more ass on the swing…. they can be a bear to bend…haha

In any case, glad you got it squared away.

quote rob3dr:

Place the barrel on a couple of sawhorses… may want to cut out a notch for the barrel….

lay a towel over the barrel and hit it with a small sledge. I’m not kidding. If you have a good dead blow hammer, thats better. Just give is several good whacks. The barrels dont tend to respond well to slow bending, but a sharp force on it will…. should… bend it the way you want.

I already tried that Rob, didnt work. I was worried if I hit in any harder (I was using a wood splitting maul, which I’d think is over kill) that I would just end up breaking it.

The barrel is fine now after removing it from the rack I made.

Tron, I have not really shot any groups, but the groups while checking POI after bending the barrel seem pretty good so far. Now its straight I’ll shoot a few after Dinner.

After you get it bent right you can make those “around the tree” shots if you hold your gun sideways. SWEET!

Hmm. That’s kind of frustrating then. Have you actually shot the thing for groups etc yet?

AIM HIGHER……DUH!…..LOL 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆

I have heard of guys sticking the barrel in the crotch of a tree and give it a good shove to fix droop. Maybe putting it in your crotch and yanking on it will get your droop fixed. 😛

Thanks for the suggestion Bass 😛

Tron, the barrel itself is straight, its just not on the same plane as the receiver. Its pointing down where its mounted in the receiver.

This is the gun in my torture device/spring compressor after many steps of tightening, then checking for a change in POI-

That last effort seems to have made a slight decrease in droop, going to go back in for some more “adjustments” and I’ll just have to play with my Webley Patriot while this is being worked on I guess.

What part of the barrel is the bend in? If it’s towards the crown maybe you could cut it down some and have a carbine.

Just a thought.

I have no experience with springers….but

I was in AoA one day and saw one of the guys take a brand new springer and bend the barrel up using just his hands and body. I was kinda shocked seeing this as it seemed crazy to me, bending a brand new gun. He told me that allot of springers come from the factory with “drooping” barrels and that if you dont give them a tweak you have to do all kinds of crap to get the scopes to line up. I wish I had payed more attention to how he did it. It sounds like you have a monster there that is fighting you all the way.

only way to fix that is place it in a plastic bin, and put it on the curb on wednesday!!!!!!!!!! 😯 LOL……..

ever get that ‘yote?? 8)

I just spent 2 hours trying to bend the barrel so the barrel is roughly lined up with the receiver….. NOT easy.

I started off subtle just by bending it by hand, then I put it accross two blocks and pushed down a bit, then used two blocks and a bolt, nothing, bit more tension on the bolt… still nothing then finally so much tension in the bolt that the barrel was bent upwards…. left it that way a bit and then released the tension and it went right back to original shape. Then I got a 2×4 and whacked it (in anger and an attempt to straighten the barrel)… MINOR difference, Whacked it a few more times and nothing. Then I sat on it (200 lbs)…. jumped a bit, got an 8lb sledgehammer and STILL nothing.

That stock does look much better.

Bought a brake hone today and finished up the compression chamber. Stock was stripped and restained in walnut, looks a lot nicer now it isnt shiny and orange.

600 fps with CP heavies. Going to take it apart again and clean up the exterior metalwork and some minor tweaks like an overtravel screw.

Rob was right about the barrel, 1 foot low at 10 feet ❗ so thats going to need a few adjustments tomorrow too.

This is the first time I’ve went with the “you should spend 50% the cost of the rifle on the scope” rule of thumb, lol.

It’s Chinese so it’s 221-224 1/2 …… 😆

Does that have a .223 barrel on it ? 😛
