Q:

Multishot Talon?

Is there or has there been any projects going on for multishot mod?
Or is there something in Talon desing that makes it impossible? I remember some text on Gun Power website stating that multishot is coming soon but that was back in 2002. 😀

I would like to study the subject but since I don’t know pretty much anything about multishot mechanics (nor airguns mechanics actually) I want to catchup on the existing knowledge first. If anyone knows any useful info about it or can provide any pointers to other multishot airguns schematics I would apprecieate very much.

Thanks.

Actually, I dont think that is such a terrible thing. Its not ideal but it could be made to work without to much difficulty. Look at revolvers and as YN stated there is already a gun out there that uses that type of setup. You would be limited to the type of ammo you could use though.

YN, Ive always wondered about that multishot diagram myself. There are problems with the way he has it laid out that would have had to be corrected when brought to the real world. So either he made up that drawing before he actually built it or, well, maybe it never made it to the real world. He does state that he put like 500 pellets through it so I tend to believe that he made the drawing after he built and used it but something just doesnt add up there.

Things like

How do you cock the hammer?
How do you remove the clip? Or do you?
Why is there a spring on the “magazine retaining pin”?

I dont see any way to cock the gun with the way he has it laid out.
I guess you dont need to remove the clip to load it but it sure would be nice to be able to remove one and pop in a second one. The only way I see to remove the clip or cock the hammer would be to remove the tank which would totally remove any benefit of having a multishot to begin with.

Maybe he just sucks at drawing.

Ninja,

I agree. If it existed he would have posted it all over the place. For the simple fact it would have been the first one. Maybe he started it and finished but it did not work so he did a disappearing act.

There have been a few ideas out there. The only one that I know was actually built is this one

The thing holding it all back is the inline setup our guns use.
Ive drawn up a few ideas but the hard part is getting the pellet into the barrel. Its allot easier if you can leave the pellet in the “clip” and have it fire into the barrel.

Thanks. I’ve seen that pic. I also agree with you that pellet should be on the barrel before launch. Wouldn’t that kind of system with magazine be inconsistent and inaccurate? I have understood that the initial pressurewave will expand the rear of the bullet to fix it securely against barrel. If the wave expands bullet before barrel I wonder what problems will arise?

Is that how other multishot guns work or is there something to push the pellet to barrel first?

McMike,

Other multishots usually use a probe to push the pellet out of the magazine and into the barrel. The probe or the barrel end usually has a sealing o-ring and the air comes into the side of the barrel through a small hole between the o-ring sealing the barrel/probe and the pellet. when you withdraw the bolt it activates a mechanism to cycle the magazine to the next slot so that a new pellet is then loaded when the bolt is pushed forwards

An exception to that is the Anics Skiff that doesnt have a probe. The CO2 enters from behind the pellet and shoots it directly out of the magazine and then through the barrel. Similar to a revolver with its cylinder/barrel.

Shadoh,

Would have been nice if the stealth resource guy had of at least taken a picture…… I take pictures of the smallest thing I do to my gun so I really do not understand why someone who has shown aptitude at taking pictures and hosting them on his own website would make a multishot attachment prototype and not post a single picture….

Oh, using some of the clips that are already out there saves allot of time. There USED to be some really good pics of spring wound clips on another site but those are gone now I think.
