Q:

Moving the foregrip closer to trigger

I have removed the forward screw on the trigger guard and used the countersunk screw from the fore grip through the same hole to move the fore grip back. The original hole is now open, I can see the power adjuster through this hole. It seems quite a comfortable shooting position, though I’m a bit concerned that the countersunk screw may not penetrate as deep into the ally frame as the original, and I don’t want it to wreck the tapped thread in the soft metal over time. The grub screw on the end cap seems a bit loose in its hole, even though the rifle (Talon SS .22) is new and I have never over tightened it, and there is no visible damage to the thread on the grub or the hole. Anyone care to comment?

The foregrip feels solid, there is no movement at all.

The reason I moved it was to mount a bipod, I have seen a cheap one locally here that mounts on a 20mm dovetail, so I have a 11mm to 20mm adapter, I havent got the bipod yet. Do you consider the bipod essential for what you do? It looks good, but how much would you use it for hunting say? I like the idea for bench shooting, but for that a sack of sand might be nearly as good for a fraction of the price.

Use some blue thread locker/ thread tite. I lost the threads on my foregrip screw hole by mounting the harris clone bipod to it and it came loose a couple times, i’d tighten it and it ‘d come loose. Just a few time and it stripped out. Your right to be cautious.

I’ve heard of a few doing this with no problems. Don’t know what to say about the endcap grub screw, that’d be an easy one to retap to a larger size. Had to go with 12-24 for my foregrip screwhole, although i’ve heard of a heliacoil system in which the threads are replaced with a insert of some sort. Got a phamphlet downstairs, Fasional store.
