Q:

Micrometer Tank – real world shot numbers?

Does anyone have real numbers for the number of shots that they get from a micrometer tank? I am comtemplating one for a .22 Talon SS.

Thing is to get as many shots as the MM valve gets, its at the sacrifice of velocity. CPs at 1000fps or as close as, first i would need to know where your at, and what your shooting with. Then you need to fine tune the tophat for consistency, find the sweet spot. This is defined when you get a balance between power and loss of FPS per shot. You want the numbers as consistent as possible with my TSS it was around 2fps per shot loss of velocity over a 20shot avg. Chances are you won’t need any shims, but a mod to the valve to increase it power output. JUst guessing though as i’ve no idea what valve your shooting with or what barrel length your have.

Stock Condor, Condor valve, 24″ .22 cal. barrel.

That could be a waste of money, do you have a chrony? If not that would be a better investment. You can get the same effect by shimming the tophat and reducing the amount of travel it currently has. Black ops was playing with this and posted some very good numbers. Save your money, and get a hole punch for paper. Use it on some ali cans and make your own shims. Small hole in the middle for the stem and your good to go.

Keep on explaining. How many shims? How do you do it? I’d love to set mine up to shoot as many C.P. as close to 1000 F.P.S. as possible. I do have a chrony and am going to the indoor range today as soon as it opens. I’m thinking about one of those micro-meter tanks too. But i don’t like wasting $$$$
