Q:

Microlite Bullpup Kits for AF guns

This is a project I have been working on for more than a year now.
Transforming an Airforce gun into a Bullpup configured gun.

The result is non-traditional as far as Bull pups go, but it is the same in that it allows for a longer barrel and or baffles without adding to the over all length of the gun.

Instead of Trigger linkage the kits use a new rear action and a bolt extension to move the barrel back behind the hand grip and reach forward to reset the trigger.

The Kit also requires a shorter rear tank like the 13ci on the TalonP and Escape models.

The Kits come with a Delrin constructed rear action complete with bolt extension/breech slide, tank sleeve, thumbhole stock with 18 shot rotary pellet dispenser, barrel mounting sleeve with vented front bushing and short baffle insert with blast chamber and 2 petitions. (3 petitions for the Tss/Condor frames)
It is a true drop in kit that doesn’t require any modifications to your gun as long as its a post 2013 frame. However it does require disassembling the barrel and tank which may void the warranty with Airforce.

Since this is the first public write up on the kits have I’m suppose to mention that there is a patent pending on the concept.

I believe that this approach to a Bullpup configured gun is a novel one.

Having said that I have also noticed when something seemingly new gets posted here Its usually not long before Baz,Blodnob or one of the Brazilian guys throw up some pics where they did the very same thing 5 years ago lol, So
If anyone has seen this approach somewhere else please post it soon and save me some time and money.

I know some of you guys that knew I was working on a AF-ish Bullpup was hoping for a forward mounted tank.
I have a sweet full frame design with a internal HP line forward tank and even smaller rear tank that pulls the barrel back almost 8” behind the hand grip, but It would read on AFs primary patent which is still in effect for another 2 years. So it will be a while on that one.

The kits make for a nice lite, compact very accurate shooting gun. Hope you guys like them.

Here are a couple of videos (The 100 yard video is a Tss conversion) and some pics to explain things further. The pic with the blue background is from some target work Rob in NC here on the forum did. Rob also is doing a review on the kits he will be posting a little later on.

Special thanks to Tony for allowing me to post the info on the Kits here on TAG.

I have a couple of new developments with the kits to share. The first is one of those why didn’t I think of that sooner kind of things. That being cutting vents in the barrel mount sleeve. This basically turns the front barrel bushing into a bushing /baffle which contributes even more to sound reduction.
still have some more testing to do, but so far the results are very good.
Drumie, You and the others who have BP kits with guns using a 12” barrel will be getting the improved vented barrel mounts soon to replace the original one.

The second development I discovered is when the Microlite kits are combined with a Maddog gun stock it creates an awesome little shooting machine!
light, solid as a rock mount and will shoot 1hole groups all day long when I do my part.

Here are some pics and a Youtube video. 10 shots, one ragged hole.

I just wanted to give a big thumbs up to David and the Microlite kits he offers. I got one a couple weeks ago. It is very well thought out and very well made. Mine went together with no issues at all. I really like the cocking arm on the side now. It makes cocking the gun with your thumb very easy. Also I was very susprised how quiet it was. I couldn’t really compare the accuracy before and after. I had a TalonP but I converted it to a 257. I ordered a new TalonP for this kit, but I used the barrel from the 1st TaloP as I knew it shot great. I couldn’t tell if it shot any better or not. But this gun is shooting great. The pellet holder is great and well designed. I am getting a solid 10 good hunting shots with the 25gr JSB right around 900fps. Good enough for hunting squirrels. My gun as it is set up now is the same length as my Vulcan but it is lighter. It is a very handy gun now. Only issue is it does make loading the pellets a little harder as the opening is smaller. I had some questions about the kit and David answered them very fast. Great guy to deal with.

That’s awesome, if I would have known a little more when I seen your talonp at the show I would have bought your kit lol, not evening owning a TP yet. I was very impressed with this.

Can you still install a shroud after your baffle for even more reduction?

I have done a couple of different baffle insert designs for the kits.

The first one is in the pic at the very beginning of this post and also in the install video. It uses the AF end cap to retain and seal off the insert, so an additional (traditional type) shroud could be mounted on in place of the end cap and in addition to the insert.

The second one is the Disruptor insert. Another shroud cannot be added to this one.

Currently I offer 2 Disruptors a 3 chamber and a 4 chamber version which includes the initial blast chamber.
The 4 chamber is of course the quietest, but also adds 2”.

New member here, but joined because of seeing your kit at the Hickory airgun show. That is a very well made piece, love the feel of it, balanced very well. I have been interested in the Talonp for a while now, and seeing this sold me. Now if can just save up to buy one and one of your kits I would be in business. Your video of the baffle is awesome, amazing how much quieter it is.

The last two kits for sale from the first batch are on the way to NC to the Hickory airgun show.

I should have some more BP kits made up in a couple of weeks. PM me here on TAG for cost and availability 1st week of November.

How much are the kits and how do you order them?

I bought bullpup kit from Tagdagger for my talon p. It is one excellently machined and engineered kit. And is very easy to install. The talon p is really too big to be a decent pistol and too short to shoulder properly this kit solves many problems with this gun. With the kit it shoulders and shoots great and has a more ergonomic feel to it which helps on accuracy! With the included shroud/baffles the gun is so much quieter. I love this kit .It turned my talon p into a completely different gun. Just wanting to give credit to whome its due .Thanks Tagdagger, Good job on kit!

Here is a video I did today of a BP converted TalonP busting some paintballs at 35 yards. Fun stuff 😀

nice stuff there although when i read the title i thought the bottle wont be behind the action anymore

In the beginning I had a couple of prototypes that I was building for a forward mounted tank, but it soon became clear that the cost for such a kit would rival the cost of the gun.
Difficulty of the install and the weight of the gun would also be greater.

The current design offers all the benefits of a bullpup without excessive cost or extra weight in fact it reduces the guns weight, gives you a 4” void in the front of the frame for extra barrel length and or baffles, converts it to a side cocker, increases accuracy and makes it quieter.

Here are a couple of links to some new videos of the Kits.

The 1st one is of the new rear Action in action and the 2nd is a sound test of the new “Disruptor” baffle insert. The Disruptor is also in play in the 1st video.

Very nice engineering!

Here is a closer look at the (Behind Hand Grip) BHG Action.

The Action’s housing keys onto the back of the frame, attaches with the guns setscrew hole from the stock collar mount and covers the stock action’s loading window.

Notice the bolt extension attached to the breech slide. The extension serves two purposes.

It allows the barrel to move back and be mounted behind the hand grip and it serves as trigger linkage bridging the gap from the new rear Action to the original trigger group.

The Rear Action is made from Delrin for several reasons. 1) Its light weight at only 6oz. 2) It wont mar the frame when it keys on and covers the old action window. 3) Delrin is also resistant to chemicals and weather (temperature) changes and Its easier to Machine than aluminum.
