I came up with this in the shop. What do you think?

That looks pretty good Adam, I like it. 😀

Adam could you slot the mounting screw and add a second one to pivet on? That would make it easyer to tighten up. And adjust to anyones taste of the way it will fit. Just an idea. But it really looks good! 😉

Thanks for the feed back. This was .500″ wide and .760″ long.

A curved trigger guard could be made but as you see on your example of the ruger, the curve is supported throughout. Having such a curve on the AF gun can be done but some of the pivot adjustment might be lost due to the extra support needed to secure it from the increased leverage of the long curve.

The trick is being able to come up with a design that will lend to several being made at the same time. If it takes and hour to make one trigger then that just is not going to do 😕

Adam, just a thought. Since you are building the guard as well, how about giving us the choice of a “winter guard” ie. a curved instead of a straight bottom which will provide enough room to allow one to wear gloves (for folks that have to deal with long cold winters). It will accommodate a longer trigger blade as well if one so desire.

Oh yeah, your prototype looks really good. I’m interested.

I’ve just made a new trigger guard from aluminium bar which is 10mm. If you have a trigger any wider than that you’re starting to run the risk of it snagging on stuff. I’d say you’re looking at a width of 12mm tops. Of course if you combine it with a new trigger guard then the length of it won’t be a problem. Prototype looks very good!

Ok, the best trigger feel for me comes from a 5/8″ wide shoe with a slightly rounded front. (Just like the picture) I have one just like it on my Ruger Redhawk.

Considering its somewhat risky to try to polish the AF trigger to smooth it out, this seems a logical approach.

I know we have no room to make it taller with the existing triggerguard, but lots of room for width.

That width may be too wide for some, but it works fantastic on my Redhawk.

It looks like the one he made is about twice as wide as the stock one? How much wider do you want to go? Maybe give him a number to go by? Pictures can be deceptive.

My opinion, I would like it wider on the horizontal plane, and slightly rounded.

The height and depth look perfect.

I don’t have a graphic to show what I mean however. Picture a good trigger shoe. Any extra weight would not bother me if it meant a good trigger-to-finger connection.

Other than that, maybe round the square corners around the mounting hole?

Great idea Adam.

Linked to a pic to show what I mean, the shape of these might be tough to make though.
