made my first internal LDC today
okay, so i thought i’d give it a shot (NPI), and took a trip to home depot. about 90 minutes later, i’ve got quite the silencer. on a power setting of 9.5, she’s whisper quiet. i vented the frame too and the front bushing. there’s quite a bit of air coming out of the four holes i drilled into the frame. i’m going to chrono her in a few after the neighbors go inside and i can get a few shots off in my garage. i used a bunch of fender washers, o’rings, a spring, and some plastic spacers. i can’t believe how quiet she is. i’m sure i’ll take the gun apart in the next few days and i’ll post pictures. i should have my DB meter here sometime this week, so I can take some readings with Tony’s shroud, a rich from michigan LDC, a kirk from arizona LDC, and the logun QGS. Should be an interesting showdown to see which one is the quietest. who knows…maybe mine will win??? lol (yeah right).

How are you guys mounting them to the frame? That was my downfall.
It is. I don’t see any issue with discussing and sharing various methods of shroud making and their internals. I don’t think that there is anything “secret” about shrouds and what makes them effective, so discussing them should not be an issue.
Im sure he has gleaned info for making allot of what he sells from this site as well as the old one. Nothing here is really new or groundbreaking. I thought this whole site was about a sharing of info and ideas?
what if you put sothbrite or some like that infront of the vented bushing to slow dow the air?
hey thats totally understandable. Looking more how the various makes work compared to each other and compared to what you picked up at home depot. Don’t really want to steal any ideas from those that are making money off of it but I am interested in anything I can do to make my ss whisper quite. that is till I can afford something from tony.
I glanced a little harder at Tony’s shroud and how he made his. I’m not sure if he wants me posting details of what I saw, so I wont (unless he chimes in and says go for it). There are some mods I am going to make to my internal shroud to see if it makes a difference. There is too much air coming out of the frame at the moment.
look forward to hear what you find out. For I am sure like many on here, one of the biggest things I want to do is have the rifle as quiet as can be for some low noise fun and maybe just a little bit of pest control. I also did a little bit of shopping just at lowes, just need the SS to hurry up and get here LOL. So hurry up so many of us can copy and benefit from all your hard work.

I vented the bushing and under frame of one of my talon SS’s, the other is stock with no holes in either. I found that the one stock without any holes added is actually quieter than the one with holes….. Beats me why but it is quieter and both are identical otherwise.
