Q:

Is AF Condor the King?

Does anyone know of a more powerful “out of the box” PCP than the .22 Condor?

I have to go with the Quackenbush .457 cal. air rifle.

See 500 FPE http://www.quackenbushairguns.com/LA_Outlaw.htm

Dennis sells these out of the box, then you can send it to Big Bore Bob’s to get back a real hammer. 😀

Time for a group-hug M-kay? 😛

Yes, but my reply was to the post directly above mine. That much is obvious.

The original poster did not ask as to what caliber the damn Daystate was. He asked what were the most powerful OUT OF THE BOX PCPs other than the Condor in .22. The Daystate is still a PCP airgun correct?

And in this case. I guess we should throw in Quackenbushes, Barnes and all the other big bore hoopla.

it’s a nominal .223 diameter, but effectively .22 calibre.

but you are right, Tron, those will not fit regular airgun barrels…

Thanks Tron. You have answered my query. 8)

Aloha,

I’m not struggling with anything, just answering the man’s question. The Daystate Air Ranger 80fpe does not fire a standard .22 Airgun pellet. Why? Because the barrel is larger in diameter than a standard .22 Airgun barrel. We aren’t talking firearms here and their menagerie of different sizes; we are talking airguns and that means .177, .20, .22 and .25 and then the big bores, all of which use firearm bullets. To call the 80fpe Ranger a .22 is to be obtuse, and if you don’t agree then go and buy one and have fun shooting any .22 pellet from it. There is a reason why it requires non-standard pellets and that is because it is a non-standard caliber.

is a .22 a .22 or is it a .22??????

is a .451 a .45 or is a .452 a .45 ..is the .457 a .45, is the .458 a .45 mmmmmmmmm

You are the one struggling with the accepted practice of calling a .22 a .22

The Air Ranger is not a .22 though. It’s actually a .223 and uses a rimfire barrel.

NOW this is funny!
so a .223 is not a .22 now????????
good grief man a pellet starts out with a skirt at 0.225 so it is not a .22 either. How in the world are we gonna get 0.221″ stuff to shoot in our Condor .22 so it can be called the ‘most powerful’ out of the box airgun
Have you forgot already that the condor could not even open the valve with a full charge?
For the discussion the Daystate is a .22
Walter….

For your information, I couldn’t give two hoots about the Condor being the most powerful .22 as I already know that it isn’t. That Title will probably go to the original Careers which I do believe some have had doing 80fpe out of the box, Cygnus being one (correct me if I am wrong). As for the 80fpe Daystate: it isn’t a .22 air-rifle and shoots .223 bullets, tins of which I have here in front of me. Try getting one of those in a .22 air-rifle barrel. Here’s a tip: they don’t fit. Oh, and from AoA themselves:

“Also, the Condor has a standard .22 caliber barrel made for airguns. The Air Ranger 80 ft/lb version uses a rimfire barrel at .223. The bullets will not fit into the Condor.”

Anything about any of that which is difficult to comprehend, Walter?

Isn’t the 80fpe Daystate a .223, not to be to picky, but one can’t use the daystate air bullest in a standard .22 airgun barrel.

Nice rig WOK, hows the accuracy and finish on the career, compared to your AA410/400 don’t remember which you have. Just know you bought it at the right time, cause prices jumped right after you bought it.

The accuracy of the Career 300 is fantastic. That is the gun that took a English Sparrow at 115yds off of shooting sticks. The finish is good and it look like a quality gun. But it is not the same quality as the AA410. I rarely shoot the Career due to it being so loud I can alone shoot it in the wild.

If we’re talking about .22, then I’d say it’s a daystate air ranger @ 80fpe. no need to mod anything.

My Career 300 spits out 70fpe out of the box.
