I remember Sacman when he was working on his Talon turned Condor. He had a funny look on his face when my Career 300 shot as hard as his Condor and I did not have to do any modifications…LOL Sacman is a good guy, but he did not look to happy when my $400 multishot was a accurate and as powerful as his full blown condor….LOL
Hey Lino! you out there?
Saugus..
These are the claims that I was refering to –
At the time they started production of Condors they needed a little asterix or something saying “*But only if you take into account a 15 shot average”….
Right now, even the spin adjusted comment by Gaylord is totally incorrect and that statement on their website should be removed.
Prior to my Condors’, I had two Webley Patriots that I thought were all The Kings Horses. Figured they’d serve my needs for the rest of my days. I think I had seen the AF air rifles on PA’s website but never paid them any mind. Having never clicked on the photo to enlarge them I’m sure I dismissed them as some plastic kids toy. One day I stumbled upon Gaylords Condor review and did some additional investigating…….only to realize that I had been stuck in the Stone Age. Ordered me up my first Condor ASAP and have never looked back.
Very unfortunate for you guys because that discovery led me to TOG, then to here. 😆 😆

Walt, maybe I can’t read or something, but is anyone here actually saying that the Condor is the most powerful .22 Airgun?

Gaylord is in good company….. LOL

Y’s Quote: “I’d be very interested in Gaylords spin on why the Condor is the most powerful Production .22…. ”
Yes, I also read that Gaylord said this, but if my memory serves me well, I also remember him admitting somewhere that there are a few other guns more powerful, but they only get a couple of shots at this higher level, and quickly drop in power at or below the Condors, which gets many more shots at a more consistent level. In other words, I think he was trying to say that no other stock gun can produce so many shots per fill at a high power level, which, in his mind at least, gives the Condor a plus over such guns apparently. I’m not sticking up for Gaylord, nor do I know how true even this is.

The .223 is only slightly larger than a regular pellet, that is true, but trying to seat one in a .22 barrel is next to impossible due to the driving band. Believe me, I have tried, and again, AoA and Daystate themselves both say that they cannot be fired in any other rifle than the 80fpe Ranger. As for Daystate describing it as a .22, that’s just marketing and when the 80fpe model hit the shelves in the US no-one could use it as there was no ammo! The owners had to contact Eley (iirc), as they were Daystate’s partners, and order pulled bullets directly. There was a real shitstorm because people had ordered the gun after being told it was just a .22 only to find out that they then had to go and track down some bullets so that it would work. After a while Daystate got their act together and got some branded bullets that could be bought directly from AoA in the US, but the rifle still had issues, although that is another story still.
Again, all of my opinions and memories are just that and I am making them because I believe them to be correct, not for the sake of arguing.
You can use any pellet in an Air Ranger. You just cant (easily) use Air Ranger specific “pellets” in other airguns due to the SLIGHT difference in size.
Daystate themselves refer to the 80 FPE Ranger as a .22 –
.22 / 500cc / 60cm 80FP / 20 / 950
But back to the original post… There are TONS of guns more powerful out of the box than Condors and they were around BEFORE the Condor came out with their ridiculous claims and false advertising….
I’d be very interested in Gaylords spin on why the Condor is the most powerful Production .22…. He has an excuse for everything and this would likely take the biscuit (Cookie).

No-one, least of all myself, cares whether the Condor is the most powerful “off the shelf” .22 airgun as it isn’t, and at no stage has been. That is a fact. What is also fact is that the 80fpe Ranger doesn’t use a .22 airgun barrel and doesn’t fire .22 airgun pellets.

So what shall we call the Condor when shooting Piledrivers? mmmmm
what is it called when shooting rounds?
I know…. a .22 cal PCP AIRGUN 🙂

No worries Harry. We all knew what you meant.
Sorry guys… my query was a bit ambiguous. I wanted to know if there was a more powerful PCP out of the box in .22 cal. pellet gun than the Condor.
Harry

Harry
I guess some of us thought DH was talking about “Pellet Guns” since he was speaking of the Condor, which out of the box is a “Pellet Gun”. Sure there many PCP’s that are not pellet guns but then again DH knows that.
