Q:

increasing ft.lb energy on a stock condor

I have a stock condor in .22 cal. what would be the best way to increase its ft.lb from around 80 to 115? would installing a .25 barrel really help? i’d prefer to not have to mess around with the tank at all. would shooting home casted pellets around 40-60 grain increase the fpe? i cant really make any measurements since i dont have a crono.

PS: what is the cheapest bipod set up i could get?

thanks

I only use my bipod so the gun does not lay on the ground. While shooting I either use a camera tripod or on a bench a set of bags. I hate laying down to shoot. So the airforce bipod work fine for me becaus I only require it to keep the gun out of the dirt. 😉

Cheapest bipod:

Two straight sticks of desired length to suit your shooting style: short for bench, medium sitting, long for standing (cut in backyard or roadside) and the fat rubber band that comes in the mailbox when too much stuff arrives in the same day.

No really though:
Harris clone can be had for 50 bucks or less, about 69 for the af bipod.
harris or clone needs an adapter so will cost about same in the end. af advantage: mounts clean and easily to existing lower rail. Harris advantage: can get different heights to suit your shooting style. Comes down to personal preference. Either way a good investment.

80 fpe in .22 is about the limit for usefullness and keeping acuracy…its possible to go faster i had one do 100+ fpe in .22 as requested by the guy i was doing the tune for…even though i tried talking him out of it…power was there…but didnt help anything when he couldnt hit a squirrel at 40 yards…..

you want 100+ fpe…get a .22lr

in .25 the case changes slighty as heavier pellets are available like the new EJ42 grain, but even that doesnt like much more than 80 fpe….if you get a real good barrel 100 fpe is possible….

above 100 fpe and staying with air…i would suggest 9mm, 45 or 50 cal

Walter has spoken 😀 and he knows his stuff getting full power out of this rigs.

Once you get a chrony set up and have some numbers several of our members are the go to guys in getting the most power out of the condor.

Welcome to the forum.

Buy a Chrony first if you need to know what you are getting out of your Condor. No point dickin with it if you have no way to measure progress.
You likely ought ot be happy with a .22 condor doing 80fpe.
Walter….
