Okay Rob it is done. I picked up some hose clamps and sprayed them flat black. I put another coat on the butt piece also.
Did you find your butt plate yet? I can make one for it if you need but it will take me a few days to get to it.

The lazy way is to put the hose clamps over the tank cover and paint them black. But the correct way is this.
Put your tank on your gun and determine where the butt piece will go. Put the hose clamps on your butt piece and see where the straps for the clamps will intersect with the tank. That is the area you want to slice with a box cutter. You can make slits or you can cut out a rectangular area for the butt pad. I do recommend leaving rubber at the butt of the tank for the butt piece to rest on. This will allow for a compressive factor when tightening the butt piece down. If you can just make slits for the hose clamp to go through then you will be set. The rubber cover is tough stuff and will require careful cutting with a box cutter. I remove the tank cover with an air compressor. Just blow air in the hole at the back and it will lift off like a rocket. You can install it the same way but push down.
If you look at my set up you will see I cut the tank cover to much. But first timea and all.
It is tricky but I will walk you through it.
Was looking at your original post and trying to figure it out. Looks like the tank cover must be peeled off somehow.

Here are some picts. I hope you like it. It is primered and painted and when it chips or get scratched you can hit it with flat black paint for touch up.
I am giving it another coat and will get it sent out next week.

Adam has been using the ‘Sweatin to the Oldies’ DVD I got him last year. That butt (pad) is really taking shape… 😆
