Q:

Has anyone had any experience with any of these scopes

I am looking at the new Simmons Prohunter 6-24X44 md,tt,ao , the bsa 6-24×44 tactical md or the leapers 6-24×50….. I am not big on the weight of the 50mm lense and really like the side adjust ao on the other two… anyways if you some input on these i would appreciate it….. May even consider the simmons prairie master 6-24×50

I have had a couple of leapers and they all have worked great. For hunting I pretty much leave everthing set to 6x and have no complaints.

Heres what i found for any of the other lookers… the tasco 2.5 to 10 is pretty clear and seemed to be o.k. . The 6-24 turns really gray and fuzzy above 14x. BSA I looked at was about the same.. I placed on order for a leapers 4-16×50 and I also won an auction thru e-bay. It was a Simmons prohunter 6-24×40 with side wheel ao. While the leapers is really clear and focus to a little shorter distance the simmons is really bright and super clear for the money.. And with a 4 inch eye relief yo don’t have to duck your head in or stretch to make a shot up high in a tree…

I’ve had 2 of the smaller BSA’s a 4X and a 2X7 that were bright and clear considering the price … good info about the higher magnification models as I could’ve wasted some money there.

Been afraid to try Leapers … nice to know about the return policy.

Good info Guy’s ! 😀

I looked at the tasco 4.5-10 and 6-24… The outside appearance is not what it used to be… so it left me wondering about the internals.. Sometimes I could just kick walmart in the butt…. My ultimate goal is to use this gun for 50-75 yard bird sniping and squirrel hunting… When i was younger I could have got away with a good 3-9… now I need all I can get and still be able to carry….

j3,

I’ve had a few leapers. if something breaks it costs $15 to get a replacement. never had a problem with a replacement so the $15 aint that bad compared to the cost of a new scope.

Illumination on a TS series stopped working after a day on an RWS 48. They sent a new one for the $15 and the new one worked fine on the RWS until I sold the gun. Scope now on my 410 which must be like a vacation for it.

For the price I really like leapers and as Adam says, the Illumination really helps when using a flashlight or even in dawn/dusk conditions where I’d be losing the crosshairs otherwise.

if you dont mind slightly less power the Tasco varmint 2.5-10×44 is a really nice scope. Target turrets, mil dot… nice scope and only about $60. No illumination though.

That was kinda my thought on the bsa. I had looked at them in the past and was’nt to impressed….. I’m leaning heavy toward the simmons prohunter or prairie master….. I don’t really want a 50mm objective and I’ve heard of several people having the illumination stop working on the leapers… Though alot of those complaints have come from springers…. The more I get into this the thought’s of puttin some iluminated crosshairs on a varmit kinda get the wheels turnin….

I found the illuminated cross hairs were imperative in night time rat shooting. They really make a big difference. I use a light and illuminated scope and it is a killer combination literally.

The Prohunter is an ok scope. I tend to like Simmons for the money anyway.

Always been a fan of Leapers. Good glass for the money, but a bit on the heavy side.

As for the BSA… I had one, the 6x24x44 and I wouldnt consider it again. FAR too dark up past 12x or so. As YN said, the FOV was just tiny. Better options out there.

Of the three, I’d go Leapers.

I had a BSA 44mm objective scope (cant remember the magnification) and the FOV was horribly small compared to any other scope I tried.
