Q:

Hammer locking problem

Well. My gun has been pretty much sorted out. Most of the real problems are out of the way. Now, I have this one. It’s not a big problem. It’s just annoying.

When I cock my gun, about 4/5 times, it fails to lock in place. I have to sit there and recock and recock and it will eventually lock into place. Once it’s locked, it doesn’t come undone. Never had it shoot or anything. So, it’s just something about it that doesn’t want to hold the hammer back. Any ideas?

re adjust the trigger…

which to you would mean take the screws out as you seem unable to adjust the trigger properly (yet STILL insist on trying) so you can rule that out.

Oh ha ha ha. You guys are so funny. 😛

Bite me. 🙂

Back to the hammer. I moved it to the top of the sear in the spot where you said to. Well, it locks now. But when I pull the trigger, nothing happens. It moves a tiny bit, but nothing really happens. It won’t shoot or anything. Hammer just stays there. I’m guessing that the spring is too strong and won’t let the sear come down? Any new ideas? 😛

I am pretty sure he has the same scabs on his hands….lol. Didn’t you see the way he was looking at that hooker at the TAF convention?

I did the trigger mod for him and put the sear spring in the better position so that “shouldnt” be the problem…. unless he’s been “tinkering” again.

Um. Uh oh. 😛

Where exactly was the sear spring when you put it in? Yeah, I tinkered. Of course. Fortunately for me, cygnus loctited my tophat in position so I can’t screw that up too. 😛

Lama… you should know by now that when you have one of the gurus work on your gun, you should treat it like a sore peter…. dont *F* with it!

Oh I am sure he will ignore that sage advice….and I bet he has SCABS to prove it….lol

You can’t miss it, its right in front of the sear hole, place the spring right over he sear blade. Good hunting.

Yeah, cygnus knows me well. 🙂

I’ll try to find the spot YN was talking about sometime. Right now, I have some food out and I’m hoping a possum will come in so I can play around. 🙂 I’ll take it apart tommorow and work on it. 🙂

DAM, Lama’s, good for cygsx with his foresight. Keep us posted lama.

The sear has two cut outs, ones round and looks like the perfect place for a spring, the other is longer and sits right under the sear where it touches the hammer. You want to put the spring right underneath the end of the sear where it touches hammer in the longer cut out in frame.

The sides i did not the contact points. The contact points i took the rough spots off. I didn’t mess with the sear much as i didn’t like how it held the hammer back. Nor did i want to change the angle of it or round over the flat edge. When i stoned mine i guess i wasn’t clear, i just put fp-10 on an old oil stone and rubbed the sides down to lube them, took some rough edges off, but thats it.

That does clarify it better. Usually when someone says they have stoned and polished the trigger components they are referring to the mating surfaces.

I’ve done dozens of trigger jobs on firearms and paintball guns but I avoided it on the Talon. Once I looked at the cheap metal AF uses for the trigger components I am sure they are only surfaced hardened and it could be buggered very quickly if extreme care is not taken.

He got his Rapid????? Swift modded as well, hhmmm.

YN, i needed a heavier spring in mine with a 75 gram hammer, its just a little stiffer not much. Moved the original back and added the secondary spring. Could just be my gun, but my hammer wouldn’t lock most times, when it did it couldn’t be trusted. The new spring really helped alot, i’ve thumped it on the ground a bit to see if it’d slip and didn’t.

You honed your trigger parts right? I’m not saying right or wrong.. but it defintly changes the way the system works, often in unforseen ways.
