Good bipod?
I want to get a bipod for my talon ss with a 24inch barrel. What bipods are you guys using? Airforce? or other brand with an adapter? Thanks.

Would one of these work?

It mounts on a 3/8″ rail. It also comes in 5/16″ width.

I like my AF bipod just fine for standing the gun up and some light shooting. But it is not a sturdy as the Harris. I am too fat to lay down with a bipod anyways so mine are just used so they do not have to lay on the ground or lean up against a tree.
Because they care… 😆

I bought an Airforce bipod before I noticed that everyone on the forum seems to dislike them. Is it poorly made, is it just too expensive. Why is the Harris bipod so much better?
another harris bipod copy made by SRC airsoft company… around 25$… worked for me..
Took some pictures of my bipod attached to a scope ring. Added the flashlight because it looks better. Thanks for all the help.
Hey guys bought my harris bipod that swivels and an air force sling stud. The screw on the side of the stud is to big and hits the bipod so it can not be tightened correctly. I’m going to get a scope ring and attach it to the bipod. Should be more secure.
Uncle mike’s is a brand found at wally world they supply swivel studs and sling mounts. Best bet is get a swivel stud which fits on the rail. I used a swivel stud which screwed into my foregrip the weight of it tended to loosen my foregrip. Which led to the stripping of my foregrip screw. This could be solved by using a thread adhesive. Even still i’d find a stud to go on my rail vs. the potential of stripping out my foregrip screw hole. They are good bi pods, i had the knock off ones same as YN. I went back to a AF bi pod, for my needs it is just fine, i like the looks of the Harris/clone better.

where did you get mounts to fit a harris bipod? Were they homemade?
I owned the Harris and an AF bipod at the same time and the AF is a PITA. The Harris you just pull out the leg and it locks, then press a button and it retracts. I had ENOUGH of pulling out a leg, holding that out with one hand and then trying to get a decent enough grip of the tightening ferrule to get the thing to stay out. In the field this too much of a pain with gloved and or cold hands and in the middle of shooting it would suddenly retract….
The Bench rest bipod is the perfect size for the Talon if mounted to the foregrip (easy mod for anyone with a hand drill).
There is also a much cheaper version of the harris/Clone that doesnt cant so its the same as the AF bipod in that respect. If the AF bipod cost $20… then it would be one thing, but the one I had cost me more than the swivelling harris clone.

To be totally honest, I dont want to spend the money on another bipod.
Why not the AF bipod?? It cants nicely, doesn’t piviot, lite weight. IMHO its better suited for the AF platform then the Harris/Rocky point. Which i think looks better, is better built, but not suited the best for the AF platform. If you do go the Harris route mount it to the frame vs. the foregrip, trust me. There is another called versa pod which has caught my eye, saw it in a Cabelas catalog.

You’re right though, a swivel mount will give you more opportunities to aquire a target. Thankfully, the varmits I’m shooting at don’t shoot back!
It’s all personal peference though. If a swivel base works for you that just make you a better marksman. I’m just too shakey for a swivel mount. AKULA
You are very right about a non-swivel being more accurate. I just have a hard time with my scope being 3+” above the bore and prefer being able to adjust. I am wearing the think-cap right now, trying to come up with a cant-adjustable mount that doesnt swivel side to side. I think for me less than 5° tilt either way will suffice.
I dont seem to have the close up picture’s online, will fix that when I get home… But for now here is a long shot.
I had a swivelling Harris clone and the talon was too top heavy with it having such a high scope rail and a large 56mm scope and I couldnt keep the swivel tight enough to stop it leaning and then toppling over without the legs extended. So I took it off and replaced with a cheap plastic non swivelling bipod and like that on that gun. Might be different now I dont have a huge scope, but it works and I put the Harris on the AA410 and that works best for that one.

The Harris bipod is an old design and the patent has run out so other have copied it. The military has been usin them for years.
To answer your question……it is just a better design and rugged.
Just look at it an compare, of course copy cats will look simliar now.
