Q:

getting rid of the safety?

First question is can this be done, and what dose it take?

I seem to remember reading about this but I can’t find it any more, perhaps it was with the fallen brethren.

second – is it safe, is their a chance of having a mind of its own?

I’m a firm believer that ALL gun control is in trigger finger, so the lack of a secondary safety will not be a problem for me.

Easy to remember…
Pins come out on the power wheel side.

LOL, shadoh and wok must be joined at the hip!

Thanks for the info yellow, this seems easy enough.
wasn’t their something about removing the pins in a certain order, or something like that?

Get the BJ,

Take a look at the pins. You will see one side has been altered and has small indents in them. That is the WIDE SIDE of the pin. You do not want to hit that side. Go to the smaller side and hit them on that end pushing the small side through the hole. If you hit the wider end you will be forcing a wedge into the hole and you will get it stuck and be miserable.

Whack the little end!

One thing about the pins, they only come out from one side. Its very important that you look very closely at the pins before you push any of them out. One side of the pin is smooth and the other has small splines to lock the pin in place. Push on the pin from the smooth side.

I dont think the order matters to much but you should only be removing one pin anyway.

You remove the two trigger component pins towards the front of the gun, take out the “balk” component that was retained by those pins, remove the small pin and then the safety bar, If you want you can then replace the two pins you removed and thats it.

Remove peices marked in the above picture –

176
178
188

Ignore the small spring # that starts with 18 and then has its number cut off on the far right as that is only on really early guns.. if its there remove it, but if it isnt.. thats normal.
