fx revolution vs. fx monsoon
Can anyone recommend one over the other? I’d like to get a semi-auto and I’m leaning towards the revo, but I havent made up my mind yet.

damn, you beat me to it! I was going to buy it from him. hope you enjoy it. im waiting on the new MVT from AOA
I bought that one. I have wanted one for a while. 😈
Heres a deal on a loaded Wolf, not a whole lot more then the ones your looking at. http://www.airgunadvice.net/viewtopic.php?t=7605
I had the pleasure of shooting a Monsoon about a year ago. At the time the only gun I had was a 2250, so when my friend let me shoot a couple clips with his Monsoon it was like going from a Yugo to a Rolls Royce. What a sweet rifle. The semi auto was awesome, I quickly made a decent group on a paper target that was set up quickly for something to aim at.
It does make a loud ping noise, it seemed to me this sound was coming from the long air reservoir, kind of acting like a long ‘tubular bell’ with every shot, I could be wrong though. I’ve heard other guns with similar reservoirs sound like that, but many of you guys have alot more experience than I do when it comes to knowing other guns. But I’d love to own a Daystate, Air Arms, FX ect, just can’t do that kind a cash right now.
had a monsoon…since its only available through AOA or one of AOA’s minions….which means if something goes wrong AOA will deny its FX or their fault and blame you till the end off time.
the monsoon is nice when it works though….the semi funktion works flawlessly until the pressure gets to low and its time to refill anyway…extra moderator is not not needed, it works pretty much as effecient as can be….annoyance is the ping the cocking handle makes at every shot…its the loudest noise it makes…i which they had used some vibration dampening stuff in it and not shaped it like a bell !
i have shot the revo a few times…its a nice rifle too, they are a bit more noisy, and the early models couldnt be silenced…if it was the backpressure was too great and the trigger components would brake….the newer models have a screw that open a hole to let out overpressure so you can adjust it….of cause AOA will claim you voided the warranty by tweaking it….when finally agreeing to repair it under warranty they will take their sweet time…
both are semi auto, and will have more problems than bolt action or single shot rifles…theres just more to go wrong !
the S16s has had its fair share of problems, including failing orings and such, its havy strongly built rifle, bit the shroud is VERY effective…and i was dead accurate, just like the FX’s
Logun and FX is not the same, they colaborated on a few rifles some time ago.
semi auto vs 10 shot magazine….let me put it like this…do you plan on hammering squirrels out of a tree by shelling them with as many shots as possible….or try shooting pigeons when they take off ? if yes go with semi…if not go with bolt action….i got tired of the monsoons constant ping when shot…you could hear it from miles away(seems like it, not a fact 😉 ) and then when AOA said i fucked up the rifle, by using it normally which means leaving the rifle cocked as there is no way of decocking it and leaving magazine in so its ready to go….AOA said it was my fault for leaving it cocked…that it lost power…quite a bit…from 910 down to 850 at max…frederick FX owner and creator….told me on the phone its made to stay cocked …yet AOA insisted that i had broken it by doing it….among other accusations
Theoben is better built than the FX….but your gonna pay for it too,(spare mag and good case and your looking at 1900 bucks with shipping) and that rifle has some quirks of it own…like needing to dryfire to get the bottle off, or you have to invest in a quickfill kit, which leaves you without a rifle….
im a huge fan of the airarms rifles….especially when they where 760$ they performs as good if not better than the FX, their shourds are better…accuracy is great to 100yards ihave personally shot 3″ groups at that distance….a buddy in DK just shot a 5 shot group measuring 2″ at 100yards(under optimal conditions) they are great…have no real faults i can put a finger on….just dont mess with it…the pressure guage can leak…unscrew add teflon tape available everywhere…and your good to go again…
FX, Logun same manufacturer for awhile, my bad. Both lines are built solid. If i was looking in that price range i’d consider(purchase) a Theoban Rapid MK-II or Daystate Airwolf. Main reason would be the mods available and ease of service. Very easy to go from 30fpe to 50fpe and inbetween. With shrouds the Rapids are said to be fart quiet, just a thought. Check out http://www.airgunadvice.net/ alot of guys over there with experience in both platforms. More then likely they’ll say the same as myself, but good to hear the reasons why and make an informed purchase.
I’m flirting with buying a FX repeater. The Monsoon seems the most attractive too me. I’ve read articles from owners about the Revolution having seal and repeater malfunction problems. My only concern in buying any foreign made rifle is where to get it serviced. The Logon S-16 is heavy for a PCP
what’s an f/x s-16? do you mean the logun s-16?
i’ve done some more research and now i’m leaning towards the monsoon.
I’ve heard the Monsoon is quieter.
Neither, i’d go with a F/X S-16

I WAS waiting to see what the MVT was going to do but, when he dropped the price that extra $100 I couldn’t take it anymore. 😀
Tony told me I beat a few other people by mere minutes, you must’ve been one of them. 😯
Thanks, I am excited to get it and see what it is all about.
