Bodhisdad & Saugus18 – what is the ID of the tubbing your running?
and do you drill a hole for the grub screw to run into or just crank it down?
bwilliams – for the end cap problem I fixed it by setting the last washer with epoxy and shooting it with some flat black, to my amassment it’s held up with out flaw
FRAME EXTENDER is a good buy for the money works adequately as already said. Add a few baffles and it does quite well, although I’m sure not as effective as some of the full custom ones but the price is only 1/4 or so of those so good return on investment. I have one on my SS.
Saugus, I didn’t notice any slop with my tubing. I have used tape to tighten up baffles in the frame it will center and secure the ali perfectly.
I’ve always read that 6″ of shroud beyond the end of barrel works well. It does with mine, but i also vent the front bushing and frame. I know it adds to the effectiveness of a shroud/baffle combination. For my set up i have a urethane washer drilled/vented resting on the end of the barrel. This lets air escape rearward and provides a stop for my baffles.
Go and buy 1″ OD ali tubing from the hardware store i got 3′ for $5 cut it down so it slides all the way back to my bushing and extends past the barrel by 6″. Same material fits in frame snug. Use an epoxy and fender washer for a end cap.
Hey Bodisdad, I just got some 1″ alumi tubing. Before I cut it down, (had to get 8′ of it for 8 bucks) I slipped the end of tubing into the frame just to see how the fit was. There is a bit of slop, I can wiggle it back and forth ever so slightly when pushed all the way back to the barrel bushing. Did you notice the same thing? I’m thinking of wrapping some tape or something around it for a better more secure fit, and to make sure it is centered better.
Also, how much do you figure the tubing should stick out of frame to make it as quiet as a stock SS with 18″ barrel?

it’s a solid aluminum tube with an end cap. if you have an AF rifle, it will muffle the sound to a medium-power springer level. Not bad for 40+ dollars.
I have. Stay below 1000 fps and you will really enjoy it. Not as good as some custom made though, but definitely worth $48. No baffles in it, just an expansion chamber.
