Q:

Estimated average for longrange shooting with 21 g Kodiaks

Okay did some calculations using a pellet ballistic calculator and want to ask for some feedback as I like shooting longrange using my Condor in .22 with MilDots and was hoping that someone could confirm these are good average numbers for holdover.

21.4 g 0.22 Barracuda/Kodiak Match PSI Fill 2600
Velocity 25 yds 50 yds 75 yds 100 yds 120 yds

1050 fps .5 +0.0 -3.0 -9.0 -19.0 (inches)

Thanks Randy

Sorry guys when I imported the spreadsheet the columns screwed up. The drop is in inches with a 50 yard zero, thanks again. I am not looking for FT type shooting just an average when hunting targets 1 foot high like gophers from 50 yards to 120 yards.

The data shows a ballistic calculations for 25 yards (which is about plus .5 inches) zero at 50 yards then minus at 75 yards minus at 100 yards and finally minus at 120 yards. I just took the avarages for velocity and drop at the different ranges and tried to find an average for holdovers at the various ranges when using 21 grain pellets at the listed velocities. Guess what I was thinking is what zero do most use for longrange hunting as 50 yards works great for me when hunting I have found.

Eamo: the other numbers are the Drop in inches, I do believe.

Hi Randy,

I’d like to help you if I can. I have a SSS\condor firing 21.1grn H&Ns around 1000fps. I shoot off a 2600psi fill.

Forgive my ignorance, but you have kinda lost me. 😕 I understand that you are wishing to find holdover averages for the various ranges listed, but ddoes this not depend on where you set your zero? If you can let me know the range of your zero, I can carry out similar tests on this side of the world!

Can you explain the data below, I get the speed, ftlbs, but not the rest 😳

21.4 g 0.22 Barracuda Match 2600 PSI Fill
Shot Velocity Ft Lbs 25 yds 50 yds 75 yds 100 yds 120 yds

So does anyone have any comments on a “holdover” average at 75, 100, 120 yards using 21g Kodiaks fired around 1050 fps?

Thanks I removed all the other numbers but I have shot about 1000 pellets thru my Condor and the tophat adjustment and PW set at zero is yielding pretty numbers but I am going to buy a new valve and swap out a Talon tank valve with it. Goal is around 1050 fps in .22 and then do a Anthony .25 upgrade over winter. I am hoping for around 950 fps in .25 for hunting, just need to find some solid .25 slugs now for that added range.

Randy,

It looks like you are chucking some lead hard and fast down range. 100 yards shots are going to be not much of a challenge with numbers like that.

I like the number of shots you get….Good Job!
