I have a very good camera with Zeiss Lens. If I come up with the lens, it is crystal clear. If I use the electronic zoom only,it is washed out. I haven’t seen electronic zoom yet that has the resolution of fine optics.

Remember. The detail you see at low power, is simply electronically magnified with this system. Where as the Zoom Lens is actually increasing the detail more and more as the mag goes up. Of course this is only with high quality lens. Lower quality lens are loosing all the way up the scale.

For this kind of money, you can have Zeiss, or Swarofski. And a hell of a lot better low light vision. 😀

digital zoom will never compare to optical ! with optical you still have light hitting the full sensor on the camera so you get however many megapixels worth….with digital zoom you are in effect cropping a picture and maybe enlarging that (depending on how the camera acts) so your just getting a fraction of what the sensor can do….some digital cameras on the market now with 10-12 mp will digital zoom so much that what you get is in effect less than 1mp, then they enlarge it and do some digital picture enhancements and save it as if it was a 12 mp picture….but in reality its just 1mp enlarged

i recommend disabling digital zoom to everyone ! and instead when you get home and empty the pictures off, then crop the pictures (which will look like zoom to most) ditto for video, any good video editing will allow you to crop, that is how i got those closeup squirrel videos they where shot in 1080P and when i done they are 480 or 240 in some cases.

talking about optics…my digital rebel 6.3mp(dslr) did better pictures than my new 12mp camera (pocket cam)

wasnt there another company that was supposed to come out with the same thing, but with an HD(720P) view finder ?

I bought one of these scopes about 9 mos. ago. My hope was to have night vision capability & lose the hassle of an objective wheel (i’m left handed….) & record the moment of the shot.

It does all of this really well, for a 1st generation scope of it’s kind. When you register your scope Elcan gives you access to the software for creating ballistics which is somewhat usable air rifles. I just found it easier to manually setup a Condor with .25 Kodiaks. Once the setup is done you push buttons for Objective distance & magnification, the scope makes Elev/Wind adjustments on the fly. The pellet is always on the mark once you have this setup complete. That part, Elcan has done great & in future models (current ones should be upgradable) they plan to include a range finder component that will automatically adjust the Objective Distance.
The night vision is “digital night vision” in other words is requires those Yukon IR flashlights.
With all that said what I didn’t like was the image viewer on the scope itself, go to best buy & try one of the video cameras with an eyepiece viewer. zoom the camera to the highest power & take a look outside thats the best the scopes gonna look. Also if the camera has “Image Stablization” turn it off. 😕
When you view the .mjpg on a computer from the SD card it looks better than when you were looking through the scopes view finder. the recoil sensor doesn’t work on any of the air rifles i got except the Sam Yang .44.
I have night video shooting a coon & daytime video of a squirrel (i think…) but i not familiar with uploading video on the web, if your interested PM me & i’ll email them to you or someone could upload the videos if they want.

Food for thought? Electronics and optics are on the space shuttle. Same on all those Jets. Fireing Rockets fireing cannons and gatling guns. Tend to think they’re all digital now. Some of that technology must have trickled down to us civilians and surely hold up to any small arms. Just my thoughts. 😕

Pig, your avatar is a bit too large to make reading the threads comfortable. If you could make it smaller or remove it we would appreciate it.

I wonder how it would hold up on big guns. Like, I’d be scared to put a 1400 dollar electronic filled scope on mine or akulas super cannons. My gun will tear twist in scope rings right off the gun. I can’t imagine what it might do to those fancy electronics.

I’d definately want someone else to test that before I would buy it. 🙂 It sucks to be the guinea pig. 😛

What the Hell you guy’s shoothig? 😯

I shoot the second biggest 30 caliber magnum, the 300 remington ultra mag. Akula has the one bigger than mine, the 30-378. We both have stories of people yelling at us for owning too big of a rifle. 😀

I hope i go that fast to the promised land

That was really cool watched it 5 times.

Holy shit, I’ve been holding off one taking the plunge on one of these until they integrated the range finder, hopefully they have upgraded the image quality………..

I think we need somebody rich to try this out for us. Take one for the team.

those look so sweet
i wanted to get NV for hunting rats
I wish they had some videos / pics of the night vision mode.

Also i wonder if the slight recoil of my talon is enough to trigger
the recording each shot option. Man im about to send them an email

Lama, I think they would have accounted for that since they look to be hunting big game in Africa…

I like the idea of making custom reticles… 😯

Video cameras work well in impact conditions, so do cell phones and music players.

How much abuse do you expect a optical lens scope to take??

If you hit it hard enough to break the circuit board you would have basically destroyed a traditional scope… 😕

Sounds like it is about half the price of a nice Leopold and NV…

One of the better ‘new’ products I have seen to date!!!
