Different valve, different noise
This one seems strange to me, and I’m wondering if anyone has any ideas. I got a second used tank for my Talon, actually a Condor tank but I replaced the Condor valve with my stock Talon valve. My other tank has a Blodnob valve in it. I intend to set up the tank with the stock valve for use with my 12″ .177 barrel for a high shot count, low power (14-15 fpe), quiet bird sniping combo. But as I already had the Blodnob valve set up for Kodiaks from my 24″ .22 barrel at about 950 fps, I set up the other tank about the same for initial testing. And here’s where it gets weird. With the stock valve shooting just over 900 fps vs. 950 with Sean’s valve, the difference in noise level was huge. The stock valve was way noisier. Initial TH setting was .070″, 3K fill. I ended up turning it in 1 full turn, didn’t check gap, but velocity was about 650 fps. It was still noisier than Blodnob’s. I’m using the middle insert in the Blodnob valve, I believe that’s really close to the same size as a stock valve. I’m using a stock hammer spring with a 75 or 80 g. hammer. So any ideas? I haven’t had time to set it up for .177 yet, but I’m worried about quieting this thing down now. Later.

Either your blowing excess air due to the tophat being out to far or more likely there is air escpaing around your valve stem when fired.
Thats one reason I do an oring mod.

I think Blod’s valve also has orings for a better seal.
Good Luck
