Q:

Delrin Valve Piece removal: Help!

I’m trying to disassemble my Talon valve, and I’m trying to figure out how to remove the delrin valve piece. Is it threaded? Press fit? I need to get it off, I think, so I can chuck up the stem in the mini-mill. Any help is greaty appreciated. I’m gonna stop now before a mess myself up, until I hear from you boys. Thanks in advance.

Thanks a lot guys. Cygnus, I never considered doing that. That’s what I’ll try next. I did figure out that the seat face of the delrin is the sacred part that mustn’t be molested. Thanks again, everyone.

with the stem in the valvebody place a wide screwdriver under the tophat and pry it out

dont touch the delrin with any tools

Hi,

I think the new type valve is also a push fit.

Use always my pocket knife to pull it out, easy job.

Interesting. I think I must have the newer valve as there’s no brass sleeve like that one shows. Where your’s has a white nylon plug that screws into the bottom of the valve body, mine uses brass. But it’s handy to know the delrin may be press fit.

Before I go jerking on the thing, I’m gonna hold out for a little feedback from others to see how to get the infernal think off the stem.

Here here a pic.

The old valve was pushed in.

Good luck.
