Q:

confused

im back with more questions!! can someone explain the following. the shot count on a stock talon and tank is about 40 to 50 – i think every-one agrees on this. now on my webly raider – i can get 35 to 40 full power shots before it drops off and a loss of velocity etc etc. why ? the talon tank holds about 3 times what the raider holds! I’ve been researching the Webley Raider, and it seems like a very nice gun (although it does NOT have take-down abilities), but:

The Talon air tank is about 3 times the capacity of the Raider tank. The Raider gets about 22 shots in .22 at 21-22 FPE.

My Talon gets 65 shots at 20 FPE (the power level I prefer).

So, not really that different…

P.S.- I don’t know how long the Raider barrel is, but if it’s longer than the 12 inch barrel in the TalonSS, then that makes a difference also.

Take care,
Lorrin

i did buy the raider and opted for the walnut stock. freakin awesome gun!! got to shoot my talon today indoors @ 39 feet. its pretty windy in indiana today cant wait to shoot at 50 yards or so. hope to get out the chrony soon . both my raider and talon seem to favor jsb diablo exact. with crosman premier hollow point just behind. i think the jsb will be the long range pellet to use. i need another toy. kingpin

thanks for the imformation it makes sense. oh yea the raider sells for around 450.00 at straight shooters . one can never have too many toys. thanks again. kingpin

That is a great price and a bitchin gun….buy it.

I was told the Raider only gets about 20-25 shots before it needed to be recharged. That is one of the reason I chose the AA 410 instead.

And if you want a couple hundred shots on your talon that can be done also one tank full if you are plinking and dont mind velocities in the 500fps.

What Bod said…it takes A LOT more air to make more power from a certain point. @ 650 fps the .22 12″ SS I’m getting around 150+ consistant(within 30-40fps) shots and can shoot a lot more…@550fps I can prolly over 200 consistant shots(within 30-40fps). In .177 I’m still working it out but I’m getting 60 shots within 30-40fps BUT I’m pushing the .177 harder at 18’ish fpe vs. 13’ish for the .22 and having trouble getting the slow bell curve right now but I need to play with the fill pressure some more. It fires full power from shot 1 @ 170 bar with Power Wheel 0 in the .177

More info than you prolly wanted 😆 but in short it kinda takes 100% more air to make 20% more power not 20% more air to make 20% more power…I just made these numbers up because I havn’t charted something like this out yet…someday… 😆 maybe the air use is exponential? some math/physics wizard might know?

Jim.

I’m not sure, but the raider could have a regulator in the tank. The Talon puts out more power, thus more air. I’d have to see a string from the Raider, but it might be setup with a bell curve which will also yield more shots per fill at the sacrafice of top end velocity. Where as the AF rigs are set up for full power from shot 1 or 2, your usually at the peak velocity. There is no doubt the AF valves do waste air, but your comparing a $700 dollar rig to a $450 one. With some fine tuning and shimming of the tophat you can double your present shot count, check out some of Black ops posts on the topic, Rustykids is also working on a bell curve for his rig and getting some good numbers. The Talon should be shooting about 100fps faster then the raider which says alot a well, considering they have the same size barrel, each shot 100fps faster, add the air useage up.
